CDT 2018: Lordsburg, New Mexico. Dixie celebrates a birthday on trail and saves a life. Russell: Hi, Dixie! I watched all of your PCT hike and thoroughly enjoyed it! Now I am off, on the CDT adventure with you and Perk and Aaron. Hooray! I was truly touched at the news of your Father's passing at such a young age. I, too was born in 1955, so it shook me up a bit. I am certain that he is looking down from Heaven, with pride and delight at you, and all of your accomplishments! You are a wonderful inspiration to (at least) 280, 000 people, myself included! Thank you for including us on your adventures to places we might otherwise never be able to witness! Happy trails, Dixie! :)

Aw, so cute that you said Which one of you sorry heifers abandoned your child. A heifer is a cow that hasn't calved yet! I have been watching your videos and I am inspired. I moved to Alberta and the mountains two years ago and I have only been able to spend minimal time out there. I have made a commitment that I will spend much more time hiking and camping in the years to come! I figure if you can complete the triple crown, I can at least complete the top 65 hikes in the Canadian Rockies!

Ending the day with Hank Williams. Reminds me of the nights when I was a boy camping on the Tennessee River and my dad had a radio tuned into the Saturday night Grand Ole Opry as we sat around the fire. Of course, you being from Alabama, I'm not surprised you are familiar with Hank. Don't get no better.

This video is making me homesick, As I'm so used to what you are talking about. The gentle spring breezes, bone warming sunshine, perfect level of humidity. Although when I lived there, I never hiked trails, but did search and rescue, which required a lot of bushwacking.

I love how you care about all animal's lives, you even save the wasps and ants, I do the same thing. we need more people in the world to promote nature in a humanized world and protect the other creatures of this planet. Thanks for helping make it a better place: )

You can take a little piece of one of those green scrub pads (we called em greenies in the military) and attach it over the mic on your phone, it cleans up the audio very well for how simple and light it is. A couple bobby pins oughta do her.

Use some para cord at the ends of the umbrella and tie them to the handle. so it keeps its shape and you get cover that way. ive done in when I went night fishing and we had 60 mph winds come in from know where

Hi our lass, I'm from Yorkshire England. Love these videos and it just shows how massive the United States are compared to England. Just wanted to know what is meant by the term 'through hike? :)

That was a beautiful piece to know about your biological father. I'm sure he is/would be bursting with pride at how you live your life. Thank you so much for sharing that. Meant a lot. Cheers!

Is there just nobody else around on this trail this early in the year? If it's late April it's not super early. Could be 95 in early May in Hachita. No comment on fellow hikers?
