Water boils at a lower temperature at elevation watch out or your hard boiled eggs will be looser than soft boiled. Hheheheh ahh your up by Aspen ski country. The bunkers are for dynamite storage. The road that goes under the tunnel at Grey's peak ( I think it's rabbit ears? I can't remember the name) anyway in the 70's they were building the Eisenhower Tunnel for I 70 west of Denver. We used to have to drive over the pass. They had to use quite a bit of dynamite. So whats in those bunkers is probably left over NTG or dynamite. HIt that with a rock you'll have a puddle on the ground and wet legs. They also used to blast the snow if it got too deep on the main roads and passes. They use a lot of dynamite out there. mining road maintenance and building. Thats the big ski resort area I imagine they used the dynamite to keep those roads open for the winter tourists.

You're right that age isn't a factor in your adventure. Here's me and the kid in the middle of the Great Range Trail (Adirondacks, getting ready to hump up Armstrong Mt. Along comes a gent who appears to be, ahem, long in the tooth. We trade trail snacks, and I notice his ADK 46'er T-shirt. He admits he started late (age of 46) and finally topped out at 64. So, diplomat to that last, I ask what's he up to now? Why, doing them all over again, right? And, sir, you are? Not the least insulted, he says, I'm 74!

It seems would be smart for potential sponsors to hook up with you on the trail and give you free stuff. Do they do that? You are probably popular and recognized by folks you meet? I imagine there's got to be some thru hikers who watch these videos and pass.
Your shots are excellent. The clear colors of nature look striking, which is a testament to camera setup and quality of the camera. You chose good things to view, such was mountain wildflowers and animals.

Girl, your nature footage in this installment just blew me away and made me SUPER jealous! And I have to apologize, but I had a great guffaw at your expense as you stirred up the birds in the concrete village! LOL
I am not envious of the mosquito battle you must be waging, though. Honestly, that's one of my strong worries when contemplating a long-distance hike, as mosquitoes think I am sugar candy. Do you use repellent and/or treat your clothes/gear?

1: 05 People who climb Everest are fraking NUTS! No one who spends tens of thousands of dollars to climb past hundreds of dead bodies to an altitude where you can only survive for a day or two before you slowly suffocate to death is in their right mind. Besides, actually being on top of the world isn't nearly as important as feeling like you're on top of the world, and hiking any of the Triple Crown will do that for you pretty effectively.

Coloradans are the nicest people. Before moving here, letting someone you don't know use your car was unheard of, let alone let them stay in your (guest) house (last video, I think. But that's how Coloradans are, they'll give you the shirt off their backs. I love living here.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but those concrete buildings are called magazines and, when in operation, are used my the military to store explosives. Anything from bombs and missiles to small arms ammo.

I know you did an episode on coffee, but I wanted to let you know you can buy tea/coffee bags you could fill with your own coffee for a good cup of coffee on the trail. As a coffee snob that was my big concern while planning on doing some backpacking with my son.

Good things happen to good people. You cared about this little calf and about wasting water form that water pipe, and it all came back to you - place to sleep in this guest house, ths couple giving you place to stay and their car.

A burger, a salad, and a beer is almost always the exact combination that I dream of after a couple days out in the wilderness backpacking. that sounds and looked the absolute perfect meal to me!
