CDT 2018: Lake Ann Pass, CO. Dixie hikes alone over the last snowy pass in Colorado. Scrying, : When I was growing up we had a cabin out there in the Roosevelt national forest. I've been riding and hiking quite a bit as a youth in the Rockies. I've seen mountain sheep but never a mountain goat. That scree makes my knees hurt just looking at you walk on it. That stuff is brutal on the legs. My grandparents had the cabin up there so they could send the kids away from town to escape the polio epidemics. The entire town did this. A parent would stay behind and work and everyone else who could afford it left. It eventually got too crowded and unpleasantly yuppyish and they sold the property. I am in mountains by the sea now so I'm happy.

They are going to pave the W. side of Cottonwood Pass. Thinking about your encounter with the cougar, you were very lucky. People, esp. a woman alone is easy prey. Just below N. of Taylor Res. when I was about 8-9 a mountain lion was following me about 50 feet back, but luckily another guy spotted it and shot at it. You might consider carrying one of those handheld air horns like they have on inland boats. They are very loud and will scare the crap out of predator. Love your trek through the Colligate Peak area. My Id stands for when I joined the Colo. Mt. Club, that's why I am so familiar with this area.

Wishers come from the point of view that they lack and the world isnt fair and what they desire is impossible (negative mindset, while the Willers come from the point of view that they will achieve, earn or accomplish and that nothing is impossible (positive mindset. You are probably craving because the electrolytes need replaced (salts as in salt chips) or other nutrients (just guessing. Thanks for bringing us along.

WOW, Really well done and enjoyable episodes,
I agree with what Paul Smart said:
Thank you for allowing so many of us escape for a few minutes every Wednesday.
I am new to backpacking and can't wait to get back out on the trail. In the meantime, your
videos are such a relief to watch. They wisk me away from my work-a-day world!
Thank you

Dixie, I was incorrect on episodes being reversed. I think watching the intro to 13 made me think you had Lake Ann before Mirror Lake, but I see that was wrong. Watched too many episodes in a row late at night I guess. That was Tincup Pass you used to Mirror Lake right from St Elmo? Was just up there Aug. 20th camping and fishing.

There are two types of people in this world, people who think there are only two types of people in this world, and people who don't. I highly recommend Daring Greatly audiobook by Brene Brown, on your next hike.

Dixie sometimes it is a good idea to protect the gas stove from the wind taking heat away from pot etc. Alfoil works a treat - don't know about reflectix! Love your work girl - very binge-worthy: +1:

Dixie, just curious I have seen you change up your shoes couple times and different brands. Just curious which one you found to be the best for you as far as comfort and durability. Brand and model.
