Filming Los Angeles Above 10, 000 Feet

I fly an airplane above 10, 000 feet to film Los Angeles from a new perspective rarely seen before. Because of the airspace restrictions of LAX, it's difficult to fly over many parts of the city, especially at altitudes above a couple thousand feet. So I put some cameras on a small airplane and went above the LAX airspace restriction of 10, 000 feet.

only been to LA once 20 years ago for a week long visit and there was no place else where I felt a sense of it being forsaken for lack of a better word. I walked through Downtown Manhattan and Queens during the 2003 east coast blackout and yet I have never experienced a feeling like that except being out in isolated deserts of Arizona and New Mexico where the stretches between civilization can be dozens or even hundreds of miles. It is weird because there were loads of people everywhere you went yet despite this it was unarguably the most isolated sense I have ever felt. Maybe it is exactly because of being near to so many people that it felt that way.

For to fly and explore the most incredible cities in the world one must come to Europe. It is where western civilisation began. Anywhere between Istanbul ( Constantinople ) and London will do. But if you sojourn to London it should amount to small matter to also see Dublin whilst this side of the Ocean Sea.
This was / is a wonderful video, but I dont care for LA and have no desire to go there. Having said that, to be in possession of a couple of wings above the coast of California I could live with.

It resembles my dreams. Once I dreamt that I took off flying my plane (I don't know how to fly, one sunset. The plane in my dream was an open cockpit plane, like those of the first world war, with double wings. I climbed and climbed until the sky turned dark blue. Then I looked down and saw my whole city down there, as if seen by a satellite. It was very cold, but I kept looking at the city until I couldn't stand it anymore and started to descend to land. Then I woke up, and I was uncovered.

8. 1 billion people living on this little planet. When you see a major city like LA from this respective it shows the reliance we as a human race now has on the infrastructure. all provided by and controlled by governments of the world. Take down the power grid or switch off the water for 5 to 10 days and see what chaos ensues. (Im by no means some tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist. Just a thought when viewing this vid)

Los angeles is somewhere special I've allways wanted to go to America a few different places but top of my list is los angeles and I hope to take my children for Christmas 2024 because I have more motivation now more than ever to show my children all these wonderful places in the world

California is so amazingly beautiful. It's really unfortunate that the situation there is so out of control that I have no plans to visit in the near future. It's not wonder why people who migrated westward got there and settled. Climate and geography wise, its close to heaven on earth.

It's crazy to think just how big and fast these mega cities have grown. Like imagine showing someone in 1850 a picture of LA today and telling them and telling them that it will all be built in the next 150 years and it's possible their grand children could live long enough to live in it.

Not gonna lie I feel bad for the mountain lions that live in the Griffith Park/Santa Monica mountains, theyre almost caged in and secluded and also have to deal with human life probably paranoid and anxious their whole lives. they should move them somewhere where they can be free.

Larry Walters (the guy who attached some weather balloons to his lawn chair in 1982 and took off) probably saw a view like this. Especially around 5: 00, since he took off from his girlfriend's house in San Pedro and landed in Long Beach.

A picturesque cityscape unfolds beneath, where rolling hills meet the coastline adorned with sandy beaches. Amidst the urban tapestry, an airport serves as a gateway, seamlessly blending nature and infrastructure from a bird's-eye view.

As someone who grew up in Riverside, I can not tell you how much I do not miss the concrete jungle of Southern California. Leaving was rhe best thing I've ever done. I still respect my home but am forever gone

Watching from England our GREEN & pleasant land
It's obvious that USA settlers hated nature
Look at the New York concrete jungle and only a handful of trees remain relegated to a confined square/rectangle

The first time I flew into LAX at night, it gave me anxiety that I could literally not see across the city. I get claustrophobic in LA just thinking about how long it would take me to get out of the city.

these views are simply amazing. I'm 40 and grew up in Los Angeles or So Cal my whole life. It's crazy too see all these areas where I've lived my entire life from this perspective.
reply

That's nice. But LA's still a violent politically tyrannical shit hole though. And it's being overrun by the 3rd world legions coming in from across the planet. Lol

I wish there was a way to watch this overhead view for hours unobstructed with the ability to zoom in to street level. I would be able to watch it for hours upon hours.

Great video! I can’t fathom that despite sunshine and beaches, people would want to live in a land of fruits, nuts, thots, pollution, taxes, traffic, homelessness, etc

I'd love to know what camera was used at that altitude. Was there a mounted camera under the plane, how did you get those 90 degree below shots Such amazing work!

My dad’s sister lives in Los Angles with her own family. She visited our house once when I was in nursery, reception or year 1 or early year 1.
