Minimalist. .. not a lot of visual clutter. .. How euphemistic of you, Alex. I find the exterior of the new model quite boring, lacking unique characteristics - like the Sequoia. What defines it as a MBZ? The interior look good, though I wonder if people will tear it down for the limited room in the third row as they do with the GM SUVs and others.

That button blank in the second row doesnt mean it will offer cooled second row seats. Mercedes-Benz just uses the same heated and cooled front seat buttons and recycle them for the second row heated only seats. They do this in all of their models that have available cooled front row and second row heated seats.

It is not German. The brand is German but the GLS is American bred and born. As is the GLE [M-class as was] and the BMW X cars. As American as apple pie. They are all probably the most successful US built export cars ever, or certainly in recent times. They sell in Europe like hot-cross-buns at Easter.

I really like the look of gls of current generation. But the new gls looks much less manly and a little bit glc-like. For small suv curves work well, but for large suv I like straight lines and angles much better (gls q7. I know its a matter of opinion, but for me the new look is almost unacceptable.

Alex, you need to understand that there are a lot of different types of SUVs - Sports Utility Vehicles. Even an Outback is technically an SUV. A Cross Over on the other hand is an SUV based on a car platfrom and as far as im aware, this one isnt. So it is an SUV, but a Unibody one.

Mercedes and BMW are getting dated and generic. They look the same from over a decade ago. Other luxury car companies like Lexus have introduced modern, sharper styling that stand out. Not to mention German cars are unrelibale with bad resale value. Ill stick with Lexus.

not a lot of visual clutter on the exterior design -love that description Alex. I would say Lexus is total visual clutter. When is Toyota going to get on board with a minimalist form? Lexus is so much better engineered and reliable it just looks darth vader inspired

BMW and Audi won this full size battle. Wow this is boring new gls, I was expecting more. Overall package Audi Q7 Prestige 3. 2 black optic, fully loaded FTW. Best AWD, modern interior, great MPG, air suspension is comfortable. BMW 2nd, Mercedes 3rd.
