I own one, you obviously do not understand what this car is about to be honest. I think this car is luxurious and perfect. It aggs me when people try and pit BMW 7-Series and cars similar to this class, because to me no BMW, Merc, etc, etc is simply not on the level of the Jaguar XJR in many ways. S-Class may be a bit more luxurious, but it will never drive like an XJ, same applies to any other car of this class, none of them will drive like the XJ. You park any XJ up, whether the brilliant XJR or diesel variants, they get looked at because they genuinely are a gorgeous and unique vehicle. Until you OWN one, yeah, OWN not test drive I dismiss what people have to say about the XJ, because you just do not know after a few weeks driving what this car is really about. So it is better mate, it may not have all the overrated Tech Mercedes and BMW have, but it is a unique, much better looking rarer and much more adored vehicle than any other Limo I am aware of. People stop and ask you about it. When I use to drive BMW's, no one stops you, they are just common BMW's as far as I am concerned.
The XJ infotainment system though is where I think the car is let down a bit. The SatNav has had me going down lanes to get back onto a main road, farm lanes and such. It is really weird and the navigation gets itself all in a mess and tangled up if you come off a road that is not on the route of the satnav and I have to say, never seen so many lines going in all kinds of directions. So Infotainment wise, yeah, not the best, but it is usable and not cluttered and over technical like German brands which have way to much crap on their infotainment systems. All I want is a good SatNav and Bluetooth. Well even though the Jag infotainment is a bit behind, it is really what I need, a basic easy to use system. I like old school stuff, this is an old school luxury car that gets looked at.
You can only really review this car if you own one mate. The same applies to all other cars. Until you own one, then I do not think your comments on some of the things you say stands. Soz geeze, but to me this is the best car in its class for driving, class and looks. Yes it has some faults, but they are minor. Basically like the Range Rover Vogue, everything that is good about JLR went into the Range Rover Vogue and the Jaguar XJ. The rest of the brand is questionable, such as the Range Rover Sport, Landrover Discovery (Current one, Jaguar XF/XE, etc, etc are not even remotely on the level of the Vogue or XJ. Like I say everything that is good about JLR went into those 2 vehicles and sod the rest of the brand, or it use to be.
So when you say this car is not luxurious enough, whatever, its the best car for driving in its class pal and you know it.

I don't get this review, too much sugar, no salt. You mention that the leg room in the back of SWB (short wheel base) is enough and that seats are great and comfortable - of which all is true - but for people of low and medium height. I am 182 cm high and when I try to sit normally in the back of my XJ SWB I cannot. my head is bumping into the roof and I cannot in any measure sit comfortable there. In the LWB one can get Comfort Pack which includes reclined seats, so this might be a solution - to recline a seat and then I could be able to fit comfortably, but I haven't tested it and mine doesn't have it as it is not LWB - same as shown here in this video. Although I agree that the only seat you want to be in in this car is the driver's seat: )
Another thing mentioned is its 10 inch infotainment screen. Which is probably great (my model has a smaller one) but while changing infotainment system they haven't change the horrible plastic buttons on the steering wheel! In this class of a car, those cheap plastic buttons feel as awful as it gets and are horribly imprecise many times changing my songs instead of increasing or decreasing volume because I pressed it a millimetres to the left or right instead of spot on. horrible.
And the last thing - you say you were not able to spin the wheels with this engine. mate, you are not trying hard enough. switch gear box to Sport mode, press that Dynamic Mode button on the centre console (it also changes instrument's cluster to red - that's how I see in the video it is not enabled) and then smash the acceleration pedal - you'll smoke the tires in an instant. I can to this in my V6 3. 0 diesel which has less than half of presented here horse power (275PS/271HP.

XJ's are the loner in the room, hardly selling yet the best looking, best handling, most characterful of the lot. The one that puts a smile on the face and doesn't age like it's bland competitors do. Jags are typically 0. 5s faster than advertised. This is basically a 2009 design and not an svo which suggests that a higher performance model could be in the offing. Perhaps 600 bhp or more.

I dont agree with him on the ride quality. I have an XJ mine is the portfolio v6 so not the 575 v8 but the ride quality is insanely smooth the nicest car iv ever driven by far and that includes brand new c class 3 series etc. The comfort and feel when sat inside beats any other. Maybe it's different when you have twice the horsepower I do but hey ho. I would recommend the XJ to anyone!

This is just one of the most unique and elegant cars you can buy. Absolutely magnificent to drive as well.
And park it next to an S Class the S Class looks like some gaudy toy with all the desperate curves and slashes. Seriously car manufacturers don't do elegant these days but cater towards being showy and vulgar instead.

Bad editing chaps - when you say 'Switch it into Dynamic mode' the video shows you going into D. You then talk of chilling out into comfort mode and it shows the car being put into S on the gearbox. Easy mistake I suppose. I've just bought one of these and would love to hear more from you guys re a detailed review?

Also when u said put it in dynamic mode you actually put it in drive mode. Dynamic mode is a push button in the bottom left. All the gauges will then light up red. Works best when in sports mode
