I have never seen a 2 battery system on a gasser. This was very informative and I watched very intently. NOT a simple battery change out. although was wondering if you could've removed positive stud on small bat to make the connection without dinking with loosening the fuse pack. I also do not understand Stellantis and their gateways. I do like your attention to detail and corrosion prevention. I learn a lot from these vids, and I thank you profusely. I have changed batteries where it pays to know that you should keep power to the system when replacing bat to avoid the resets, like on our Caddy with bat under rear seat. Weird stuff happens if you don't. Lastly, we do not have trust issues. Shout out to Mrs O, she classes up the joint.

29 modules. Probably one of the more reasonable of the 21st century automotive automations. My friend tells me stories about his Mercedes that has 110 modules and uses Ethernet in place of CAN bus between some of the modules. Pretty soon you'll need to run Wireshark to troubleshoot embedded protocols between modules. I pretty much threw my hands up when some LED taillight bulbs became CAN addressable! I'm with you Eric! A cable for mechanical hand brakes, heavy-duty floor switch for high beams and a radio. That's all I need!

Just dealt with a similar issue on a 2018 Jeep Compass with the big 2. 4l, in my case the power control relay was intermittently sticking open, causing the car to go into a limp mode and saying service stop/start system. I too was pleasantly surprised by the amount of information in the theory of operation regarding the stop/start system.

There a lot of people that would consider this a positive development, not a problem needing correction. BTW, Auto Start Stop is an unbelievably complicated design, the Care Care Nut did a great video on the system; it truly is incredibly over engineered (designed to mimic a hybrid system.

Uhhhh that start stop system is one of the most annoying features in modern cars. Are you telling me that people can disable it by putting in a deficient battery there This is tremendous news ordinarily you need to install a dedicated aftermarket module to hit the button every engine start

Oooooobviously you didn't hear me when I was yelling at my computer when you were reinstalling the red connector on the main battery. It ain't gonna fit Mr. O! Don't do it! All for naught. I turn into Red Foreman when I do something like that.

Stellantis means Fix It Again Tony in USA language, if it kills the start/stop mode wouldnt that be a good thing so people know how to permanently disable that garbage. Lawnmower man been watching Eric O, he wants to be more Eric eco friendly.

Like your wedding ring. Be careful when working around power with a ring on, my dad nearly lost his finger when the he shorted power to ground through through his ring. Pretty messy and the ring melted. Be safe. Love the videos.

As a Chrysler tech my experience tells me the batteries s are always the cause of that light the caps are always blown off and after 2022 aftermarket batteries cause check engine lights for over amperage

Im old enough to remember at battery change, worrying if the tray would need replacing too because of rust. Best use of plastic on a vehicle in my opinion. Thanks for the wosdom and entertainment, Dr. O!

The fact that they lasted that long is miracle. We change battery’s on Chrysler and jeeps everyday, it’s was really bad at one point that we were using so many that they got back order

Who the heck fixes a stop start system The first thing I did with my Buick was buy the module to disable it. One of the worst ideas ever implemented to meet emissions standards.

I’ve had batteries replaced in the past. The shop will attach battery power through the cigarette lighter to maintain voltage while the battery is removed. Is that really needed

Auto start stop is the worst thing for your car, terrible for oil circulation terrible for timing chains, all for 1/2-3/4 MPG city. I coded start stop off in my BMW B58 540i

I work at a Chrysler dealership relatively local to you (not bath, not painted post. This is a classic issue on all these stop start garbage. Needs a BBAUX101AB

Expect a lot of messages from older crotchety men deriding the stop/start system. I love the silence and absence of engine vibration at stop lights with engine off.

The battery system is designed by collaboration of German and American engineers. It is likes an open heart surgery just for replacing the batteries.

First person in the history of the world worried about the start/stop system not functioning long as it passes the PRNY inspection I’d not worry

Hopefully you get the opportunity to do the same battery replacement on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the batteries located under the front passenger seat.
