for anyone doing this job on a Chevy - i have two things i would suggest, a manual cable winch on the end of the crane so when you lower or raise the engine does not also go in or out, and a hoist load centering device to allow you to tip the engine when you want without having to move the chain.
The assistant was a goof idea also, pretty hard to do alone.

The old saying 'if I had a nickle for every (whatever) I did, I'd be rich. I'm now 63 and recovering from BEATING STAGE 3 LUNG CANCER so I'm not as fast as I used to be butI used to love doing engine swaps. I've built so many cars in my earlier days. Always told em, 'its nust nuts and bolts', lol. I love your videos man, your one hell of a mechanic!

18 min you put alot of trust in that young lady helping you. She did good. I cannot tell you how many times I have had or have seen someone else just dump the hydraulics and smash stuff. and they are old enough and experienced enough to know what was expected and just did not pay enough attention to what they needed to do. A+

Just watching this series for the 1st time. I helped rebuild a 307 from an 85 Oldsmobile 2 years ago and the motor had almost 700, 000 miles on it and only time it came apart before the rebuild was just to replace blown head gaskets. Keep up the work. Also I learned so much from watching your videos

My 2012 had 8 bolts to bellhousing, one at 12: 00 and one behind the drivers side head. You have to pull the intake to remove them. Also to help with install, I attach a ratchet strap from opposite head in front and up to hoist, then you have 2 modes of lift.

that engine probably just needs some honing, fresh bearings/seals, valve lapping with block and head surfacing and its a brand spanking new 5. 3. please don't crush it. its a good block and heads for a short changed young guy

Reminds me of the good ol' days back when I removed, rebuilt, and replaced a 4-bolt 427ci out of my '67 Caprice (sleeper! Did it mostly alone-took FOREVER! -but on shoehorning it back in I had my friends helping out.

I would sit through an hour video just to watch a few minutes of a bolt extraction. That was cool that you showed part of it. I love seeing it and I love doing it. If I could do just that for a living I would.
