My wife drives an 03 mercury mountaineer. One day she told me her car had a 'rattleing noise' in the back. OK, I'll check it out. Haha, drove it, only made noise when in a turn. long story short, the rear sway bar had no bushings, ANYWHERE! The two that attached the bar to the frame were gone, all the swaybar link bushings were gone. I bought all link kits, front and rear, total of 4, and had to buy the framw mount bushings from a dealer. Hard to believe a little block of rubber with a split in it so you can get it around the swaybar cost 32 each, but remember, thats at the dealer. I told the parts guy I had never had to replace a sway bar ftame mount bushing ever, he told me he sells about 3 sets a week. Thats when I came to the conclusion the FORD uses a less than perfect rubber composition for their suspensions. now I know why I'm a CHEVY fan, lol. Oh yeah, this vehicle has the 4. 0 SOHC V-6, the one tith three timimg chains, you have to pull the motor to replace the timing chains, who would design something like that, currently keeping a lookout for a good used Chevy Tahoe fot the wife, i have since swore off ever owning another Ford product.

Hey Eric O. As a fellow YouTube creator I find it difficult at times to film certain types of automotive repairs. I think it would be really cool to hear from you on WUW about some jobs you had trouble recording for YouTube or even some jobs maybe you started to record but gave up because it was too difficult to record or everything kept going wrong. Also a cool video would be a Eric O. Bloopers! Haha love your videos! Miss the engine jobs and replacement multi-parts. Take care Eric!

Thanks for the tip about not checking sway bar links with only one side jacked up. I had a horrible clunking noise coming from the front but every time I checked the suspension (by jacking one side up at a time and removing the whee) everything was nice and tight. After keeping the car on the ground and giving it the ol reach-around, I found the sway bar links to be very loose. Replacing them was very straightforward with minimal cursing, and now the front end is nice and quiet.

I got a fun 1. Driver side rattles with light bumps in road, passenger side CLUNKS when braking in reverse, replaced sway bushings, brackets, links, and full front and rear coilovers/ struts and springs. I cant with this thing tje clunk only happens when ylu hit the brakes, and yoy feel it center front. Oh front driveshaft replaced too. I loathe suspension

great vid. I learned a lot from your videos. I am an avid watcher and i watched this one because my wife has a clunk noise. I noticed a little play in the lower ball joint. I am replacing the end links because of this video. I appreciate everything you do.

I change my stabilizers, struts, cv joint and i still can hear the knocking sound when turning left, or right pushing on the brake Help what else can it be? I remember hitting a pot hole turning right and starting to hear that noise after that!

Well I learned something new today Eric. I learned that talking about swaybars send me straight to sleep. Must be all those curvy bits and the hole in the middle. True, they can be darned annoying when they are worn out.

I just got 4 Moog links for front & rear. They all vary in tightness of the ball & socket. Some very tight, some very loose, some are what I think is just right. Does it matter?

For another can't seem to find it crashing noise over bumps, I found it was coming from a wheel bearing that actually felt tight and good. Only took a few years to locate that one!
