Eric, you were talking about people coming in looking frustrated as they have been fighting a tire manually, I took a 8 or 10 ply tire off my low boy trailer the other day that would not hold air and took the tire off the wheel and it was pitted on both sides real bad so I went around it with a flap disc on the angle grinder and then primed and painted it and today I put the tire back on and I had two pair vise grips, 3 ratchet straps and tire irons and hammers to get it on, and I have severe arthritis in one foot both knees, both shoulders, I finally got it on but I was in terrible pain and fighting it terrible, so far so good,
Thanks for the video.

you didn't line up the dot on the tire with the valve stem for a better balance. I'm not surprised though, other than the goodyear I worked at, i have never seen that done anywhere else. but I do know it makes a difference in the amount of weight you use. we were bored and experimented one day. wether or not its a better balance idk. but when people pile weight next to weight next to weight, try something else like balancing the rim only first. done that. good thing it doesn't look like you have a run flat changer. those tires kinda sucked to do.

What's with the black rim paste? Shop I worked in used this white soap stuff, no rim goop, just take a whizzer wheel to the rim, goop the tire with some stuff. we used a hunter mounter, and a hunter 2000 road force balance with the quick release clamp. the road balance was nice, but the rm measuring arms were kind of a pain the configuration of the arms determined if you were doing sticky weights, or clip style. I got ok at it, could do 4 tires from, on vehicle to back on with new rubber in 20minutes. machine was across the shop.

Greetings, Eric. It used to be that tyres had a low weight spot (indicated by a red spot marked on the sidewall) and normal practice was to mount the tyre with that red spot in line with the valve stem, so as to reduce any residual imbalance to a minimum. You do not appear to have made any mention of this aspect of putting on a tyre onto any rim in any of the vids I have seen where you put on tyres. Why do you not do this, or do tyre manufacturers in the USA not mark that spot nowadays? I really would like to know.

Great video!
If you feel inside of the new tyre, for the ridge (bulge, where the plies overlap. Fit the tyre with this ridge opposite the valve and you'll hardly need any weights on balancing.
I find this method more accurate than reference to any coloured dots that they put on the sidewall.

Sticker on the tire tred has mass, wouldn't that throw off the balance when taken off? I hate wheel weights on outer lip, I always do adhesive on inside. Also please say you indeed took the sticker off tread before sending car on its way, guys who leave them on are just lazy.

I have watched lots of tires getting mounted. Most tire slingers are incompetent. I knew a couple of guys who worked at a local tire store and used to watch the show when the tires got mounted. Learned a lot. If you're good, you make it look easy. You make it look easy.

For the most part. I mount and balance Pirelli p zero sticker tires for the race cars we run. These road tires either look a little less back breaking. Or you just make it look easy as hell. Also. The video was great. Thanks for posting.
