Jeep Commander: Seat Switch Wiring lvsqcsl: I thought maybe I had skipped part of the video; no, you STARTED at Wilbert's. Dang, that junkyard has OLD cars. I had forgotten that the Pontiac Fiero had the 2M4 suffix on the first year model. IIRC the front of that car had the same suspension as the T-car (Chevette, T-1000 and later just 1000, Isuzu Impulse, etc) with the shock absorber mounted to the lower control arm. In the rear, the front of the X-car (Citation, Phoenix, Skylark, Omega) engine, transaxle, and suspension was in the back I think the gas tank was between the front seats. Terrible car. I had a good customer that traded a 1985 Caprice for an Omni. He had considerable problems with the Omni. I told him to think of all that traction he got in the snow. He traded that for a 1990 Caprice and it ran for many years after that. They only made that Commander for a short time; it was supposed to be a throwback to the old Grand Wagoneer. I think much of the wiring is the same between it and the Cherokee. Great video!

I told you about the ground wires that were cut. The ground came the shock tower on the drivers side with a single terminal ring to the engine and the other to the transmission. Toyota doesn't make this part anymore. The terminal ring on the transmission was a very large terminal ring, the ones to the shock tower and engine weren't. I was very lucky to get this part from a 2000 Camry LE from a junkyard. Luck I had to get a new car battery. I bought my first battery for this Camry in 2020. I bought it at AutoZone. Boy when they say 3 year warranty they mean it. Luckily the first battery I bought was still under warranty. So both times I have lucked out. I hope the ground wires I bought work for the Camry. The guy that owns the junkyard said it would take about 2 to 3 days for the Camry to adjust. We'll see. The ground wires are still 22 years old. Just wanted to tell you this.

Would have loved to see you tackle my old 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Had electrical gremlins since I got it, and it would lock/unlock doors while going around corners for no reason. Dug into everything and finally pulled the fusebox out from under the dash, and completely disassembled it to look for a bad solder joint.
Never found anything, and there were some integrated relays there also that I couldn't do anything about.
Got frustrated I didn't find anything, and put it all back together again and was planning on going to the junkyard to get another one.
And then the problem went away, never to be seen again. Just reseating all of the fuses fixed it, or just unplugging and plugging it back in again. Craziest thing ever.

Hey viewers Welcome back We have a broken Jeep, imagine that. They re so poorly designed and made they literally fall apart and fail while parked even if a few have some help like this one. Chrysler/Jeep, Damlier Chrysler, Fiat Chrysler, Stellaris, or whoever bails their sorry ass out of bankruptcy next, make among the worst vehicles money can buy. You can bet your expensive failed TIPM, bad grounds, faulty A/C, electrical gremlins, rocker arms that fall off, low oil pressure, squeaks and rattles, and all the other chronic Jeep failures and problems on it. There are good reasons they re rated as among the least reliable vehicles you can own.

Had one of these in the uk I m a VW tech originally but now work for the AA. Was a weird fault dash lights flickering audio unit constantly rebooting and power seat not working. Found blown 30amp in NS of boot for the seat. Replaced it for testing and dam thing wouldn t blow again until I tilted seat up. Turned out the the module the grey plug goes in had somehow got wet and affecting all the electrics and would short and blow the fuse. As a temporary roadside repair got seat in her position and disconnected plug and sent her on her 200+ mile journey home

Back in the 90s we lived in a small town and the only think to do was work and hang out after work in the bar. I don t drink so the local junkyard was my fun place. The wife never understood why I replaced mothers in vehicles that were running just fine. She didn t understand why I needed a 360 instead of a 318 in my Plymouth trail duster. She did end understand why then I needed a 400 then changed it back to the 318. The 20318 was just fine but I had to see.

I used to visit the yards myself. One yard would have 5 dollar days where everything was five dollars. I came up with an idea to keep from getting skunked by folks who might beat me to a car. I would visit on a regular day and pull off what I wanted. Then I stashed them in another brand of car. Worked great. Scored a like -new dash pad for a first gen torino once. Also knew someone who dug a hole and BURIED a transmission for a couple weeks before a sale!

Funny story about auto salvage yards. About 25 years ago, our Son and I were fixing up an 1983 Cougar as his first car and needed some good one owner parts. It was about this time of the year and asked my Wife if she wanted to go on a Color Tour. When we pulled in to the salvage yard she asked What About The Color Tour to which I responded just look at all the colors. Reds, Greens, Browns, Whites.
We still joke about that to this day.

I feel your pain on the 2M4 Eric! Waited 10 weeks for that sucker, one of the first in my area. Ownership was the most painful automotive experience of my life. Between the design flaws, the incompetent dealer service and the downright malicious service manager it was truly awful. Finally got the car right on the 3rd engine just in time to be totaled by a VW Bus turning across me sending me into a parked tow truck. Sigh.

I see that my Question has been answered already in the comments, You know Mrs. O and your guys with friendly competition, she's going to top you and your son, bragging rights lol. Best of luck to you and your family. I think a meet and greet is in order, just like the welded ball joint fellow lol, but at Wilbert's. would be Awesome for sure, but I know it would be a liability. Be well Eric!

Hi, Mr. O. I hope everything is going well with Mrs. O. I noticed she was absent today. And yes, sometimes you are a ding dong, but that is why we watch your great show. How else are we going to learn what not to do? Great find on the oversized screw. Luck counts too, but you can't count on it. Anyway, thanks for sharing! Stay healthy!

The pick and pull yards are always a good time, and Wilberts has a good selection including European models that would be expensive at yards that cater to those exclusive models, they charge the same for the type of part regardless of what it came off. Slip a section of tie wire in a stripped hole and it will take up the slack.

When I got my 2008 Chevy cobalt none of the wire loom split tubing was under the hood, just wires. checked ever wire for damaged. Now I don't know if it was a good thing to do, but I wrapped all the wires in Tesla tape, than loom split tubing with more Tesla tape. I also used it on my gas clothes dryer venting.

How I wish we had Wilburts in the Uk, unfortunately the EU health and safety crap put pay to help yourself breakers. Everything at a breakers now is already removed from the vehicles or a staff member has to remove it for you. The nett result is you know pay an absolute fortune for parts, almost as much as new.
