Chrysler Pacifica Goes Full Nuclear

Chrysler Pacifica Goes Full Nuclear Lost: Wouldn't checking with a code reader for a misfire count (in it's history) lead you to the guilty cylinder for a leaking head gasket? I know it's smoked but I mean in order to pull a plug and throw a camera in the cylinder to look at the swimming pool sitting on top of the piston.
I had a Hyundai Santa Fe that was using a small amount of coolant (car was given to us) and when the engine was cold it would miss on a cylinder (code reader was showing #4 cylinder) and it would cut fuel to that cylinder, I could warm the engine for a couple of minutes and shut it off then restart it and it would run on all six cylinders after that, and yes I swapped the coil packs around and replaced the spark plug to rule out those items. The car was a beater work car and it's value wasn't worth the price of a set of head gaskets so I drove it like that for probably 20K miles until I found a replacement car then just junked it.

Out on the streets, that's where we'll meet
You make the night, I always cross the line
Tightened our belts, abused ourselves
Get in our way, we'll put you on your shelf
Another day, some other way
We're gonna go, but then we'll see you again
I've had enough, we've had enough
Cold in vain, she said
I knew right from the beginning
That you would end up winning
I knew right from the start
You'd put an arrow through my heart
Round and round
With love we'll find a way, just give it time
Round and round
What comes around goes around
I'll tell you why
Dig
Lookin' at you, lookin' at me
The way you move, you know it's easy to see
The neon light's on me tonight
I've got a way, we're gonna prove it tonight
Like Romeo to Juliet
Time and time, I'm gonna make you mine
I've had enough, we've had enough
It's all the same, she said
I knew right from the beginning
That you would end up winning
I knew right from the start
You'd put an arrow through my heart
Round and round
With love we'll find a way, just give it time
Round and round
What comes around goes around
I'll tell you why
Yeah
Out on the streets, that's where we'll meet
You make the night, I always cross the line
Tightened our belts, abused ourselves
Get in our way, we'll put you on your shelf
Round and round
With love we'll find a way, just give it time
Round and round
What comes around goes around
I'll tell you why
Round and round
With love we'll find a way, just give it time
Round and round
What comes around goes around
I'll tell you why, why, why, why
Round and round

Could spark knock cause a head gasket leak? Excessive cylinder pressures? I know the ECU will pull timing too prevent or reduce spark knock. BUT, doesn t oil contamination in the intake tract effectively lower octane rating dramatically? I think it does. It could be that when cool the ECU puts the timing back in after a drive cycle without reaching full op temp. I know the knock sensors are pretty robust but maybe this is or was a compounding issue. I m trying to figure out why the head gasket would leak in the first place. I don t see that as just one of those things. So what can cause that? Did overheating cause the leak through head warping or did a leak in the gasket cause overheating? Maybe the knock sensors weren t functioning and an MIL was ignored. Most people wouldn t know the sound of spark knock anyway. And if the sensors aren t working then the ECU wouldn t know to pull timing. And the vicious cycle eats it all up. If the head gasket leaked or the head warped, there had to be a reason in the first place.

Great work, Eric! Work smarter not harder and when you know why bother? We bought a used 2010 chrysler town and country. touring trim 3. 8l. 60, 000 miles. Thing gave us nothing but issues. Spent more money fixing it than paying for it. Got a good trade in value for it though. Made me feel a little better. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GET A CHRYSLER /DODGE. Straight trash. Only got it cause of the wife! Our baby was due in 2 days and wifey was like i don't want to bring our kid home in that 1993 buick regal coupe custom of yours. Well happy wife, happy life, and a crappie chrysler! Honestly she's a little jelly of my buick. And its red lol. Needs lots of work though. She's sitting right now. Wish i could ship her to you lol. Still has the original 3800 in it. They don't make smooth rides like those anymore.

My son bought his step daughter a Pacifica and the starter was bad. While he was changing out the starter, my granddaughter was present the whole time. She told me it had not been an easy job and he had a fair amount of difficulty doing the R&R. I asked if there had been a lot of swearing and she said, Yes. I then asked if she could tell me what my son had said without the swearing. She said, Without the swearing? I said, Yes. She told me, He didn't say anything. The Pacifica was a write off less than a month later when a truck broadsided it. What is it about Chrysler products.

This post moved from. What could possibly go wrong? .to. there's your problem lady. in a remarkably short time. With a careful. item by item inspection. A reminder to myself to have no summary until I get to the facts. Too rushed. or snap calls spell take your lumps. And exactly why I love your posts. because my friends seem to send me all their problems that include stuff exactly what match many of the repair items you complete. Todays view. maybe just a little bit more expensive than most. Thanks for having me along. M.

I had a customer the other week have an overheating problem. diagnosed having a leaking rad hose and thermostat housing. She declined repair and was adding a quart of water to it every day. She comes back in with a no start condition. She was adding water into the engine through the oil cap and hydro locked it. We thought she overheated it bad enough to blow a head gasket, but she showed our advisor where she was putting water, and everything made sense after that

Its displacement measured 392 cubic inches and it had overhead valves, a Carter four-barrel carburetor with dual exhaust, five main bearings, and solid valve lifters helping to develop 325 horsepower at 4, 600 RPM. Power steering, power brakes, and power windows were standard. My 57 Chrysler New Yorker 4 door hardtop was defiantly not bottom of the barrel. I would like to have it now. You have touched a nerve.

We had a couple of big chain automotive repair shops by where I worked that paid low so they could only attract that level of Tech. When they couldn't figure out a problem they would send the person to us to diagnose and told them to bring it back and they would fix it. My comment, if they can't find out what's wrong is that the person you want fixing it. Got most of the repair jobs

I have a 2006 with some electrical tranny problem and have too check wiring, but I called a local tranny shop for help and he said he was working with a bunch of 2015 to 2019's more than earlier ones. I'll continue buying 12 yr old or older cars. I bought for the folding seats into floor, nice having a cargo van and full passenger van or I'd would of got a Sienna

Five year old vehicle. Great job Chrysler. Lost another customer for sure. A handicapped little old lady too. This comment comes from a past T&C owner who lost a transmission at 70, 500 miles. Guess when the warranty ran out. Yep 70, 000 miles. Chrysler just doesn't get it. Pure cut corners at all cost junk. Hey Eric, what were the miles on that van?

I bet Eric could look a the tailpipe and list off 3 things your car is in need of. In this case, before we get too far, why barring over the engine was chosen. The mechanics flowchart of easiest to hardest along with cause and effect (hydro locked engine: broken starter) was masterfully executed to jump straight to the no parts cannon required DOA engine.

Those under car diapers sure get a lot of oil leaks unnoticed till the warranty is over.
You truly are working in your customer's interests. Too many unpredictables and labor hrs involved in today's engines too attempt repairs like 30yrs ago. I've seen big spent on repairs like this only to discover antifreeze had ate up the crank bearings.

I happened to have one of those in my bay with the same problem. Cylinder 5 is full of coolant. What i cant point my finger at is what cause the overheating. No external leaks. Thermostat seem to be working fans also. Radiator have flow. the only thing that left since is not the egr cooler. is poorly made head gasket? What do you think?

Prestone with Kevlar, an a starter. Will need to flush the system to not plug heater core, but engine is junk anyway. Kinda a hail Mary that actually works, if follow the directions on bottle. I used it on a couple vehicles for people, headed to junkyard an they are still going 8 years for 1 an a lot of hard miles later.
