Been doing car audio and video for over 30 years. Only reason you would tag into the speed sensor wire would be for a aftermarket GPS. And I would not ever go underneath the vehicle to tag the speed signal. I would grab it at the PCM if I cannot grab it at the cluster.

Amazing in the rust belt a few of these have survived. That one your working on doesnt look like complete rust bucket and i have a customer who has one which is a rodeo and its not perfect but its not rusted to hell either.

I wish there was a shop like yours around where I live. I do not trust most shops. Usually shops bend their customers over 3 or 4 times with no reach around.
