Sell your car for free with Carwow: It’s time for an AMG vs Audi showdown! We’ve brought the new AMG C63 and Audi RS7 Performance together to see which is the quickest over the 1/4-mile. So let’s see how the two compare! Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, producing 630hp and 850Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it weighs in at 2, 065kg! It rolls up with a pretty hefty price tag, though, costing around 133, 000! Then we come to the AMG C63. It’s powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo coupled with an electric motor. Combined these produce an amazing 680hp and 1, 020Nm of torque! This power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2, 190kg. However, although it weighs more than the AMG, it comes with a smaller price tag, costing around 100, 000. So the AMG has more power, but will it snatch the win There’s only one way to find out LET’S RACE!

Why are you racing a RS7 against a C63 They are in a different class. The C63S E Performance goes against the RS4 not the RS7. E63S E Performance (which hasn't come out yet) goes against the RS7 and RS6. Also why are you using a sedan verses a station wagon Station wagon is bigger and weighs more. You should put a sedan verses a sedan that would be the fair way. SMH LOL

Doesnt matter how good the AMG is. Many people who spend that money, often want a car that will last 10 years (cheaper buying less often than trading in & buying another. Mercedes from the 70s, 80s 90s use to last 200, 000 miles. Not so now. Plastic & designed to break down. Motor plan extensions are to expensive. MERCEDES are no longer aspirational cars.

What I don't see in the comments is that C63 four banger is stressed to high heavens and it's at its ceiling where as the RS7 engine has way more capability when it comes to tuning and increasing its potential. Also, anyone that finds Merc interior as luxury with cheap shiny plastics everywhere. say no more you have no taste.

Controversial opinion:
At this point in time, downsized, turbocharged 8s and 6s are too common and have become boring and uninteresting. Almost all of them also sound like garbage (since everyone seems to place noise as their highest priority. The Mercedes is far more interesting and unique due to its powertrain.

Starting to doubt whether the RS7 Performance really does maximum 630PS. Because it looks faster than that.
Looks like the Audi Sport engineers got sign off at the board meeting for 630PS and promptly added more the day after.

Is it a good idea to have such a complicated system/engine on the Merc What are the chances to last A car like that it should hold the value for a long time but i think it will should go in the garbage bin after a few years.

Nick is just an, both rolling races he was in 3rd when he should have been in 2nd, the other one was in 4th when he should have been 3rd. At least he got good reactions for drag. Overall, bring camera man Jack back.
reply

i think the C63 problem is all that combined 680hp are only for start, when going at highspeed the only power that useful is only from the 476hp engine, the electric motor can't keep up agains't the engine itself
reply

I'm just random on the Internet, but I think Mercedes would've been more justified in putting more work into that inline 6 I know they make and reducing the size of the battery (or not have one at all.
reply

Now if Mercedes are listening to to the peoples comments go put the v8 back in this motor and strap the hybrid on it then bring it back bye bye Audi and pretty much most cars even supercars
reply

As impressive as the Merc is with that 4 cylinder and electric setup, once you're up to speed cylinder count and displacement takes it - Way to go Audi in keeping the V8 (for now.
reply

The fact that the C63 was supossed to fight against the RS4 and still manages to hold up with an RS7 which is a different class is just amazing to me. Mercedes allllll theee waaaay
reply

I don't know what's happened to merc recently but i thinking they are intentionally trying to make the car as heavy as possible it seems as if they are not even trying to save weight
reply

I wouldn't care if the RS7 was slower in a drag, regular driving, at a track, etc. It looks better, sounds better (V8, and has a better and nicer interior than that new C63.

Audi is not joking this year, released this beast rs7 performance, now the Rs e-tron performance, BMW and Mercedes Benz will have to work hard to keep up with audi
reply

Id get the Benz for $30k less. But the Benz is too complicated. Id get a BMW instead or just keep it simple and get a Lexus or Acura and save a couple tens of thousands.
reply

Surprised but very glad the RS7 won. It is also better looking inside as well as out, and has a superb engine and drive train - not to mention the V8 sound
reply

I feel like you need to chill more before the rolling races. The car was in 4th gear when you went. Who realistically drives in 4th gear at that speed
reply

Matt - why do you conflate Tons with 1000 Kilograms There are 907. 18 kg per ton. There are 2000 pounds in a ton. That Merc weighs closer to 2. 4 tons.
reply

That C63 weighing more than RS7 with a TTV8 is absurd, all these hybrid stuff and batteries are ruining performance cars, including the new M5.
