A Hyundai hot hatch? Yes, you heard me right. Hyundai's finally thrown its hat into the performance car ring with the new i30 N - the first in a range of N-branded products from the Korean manufacturer. I jump behind the wheel to give you my verdict on this new VW Golf GTI and Honda Civic Type R rival

You really do not know how to launch a car. at all Matt. If my seat leon fr 1. 8 remapped to 230bhp can do a 0-60 in 5. 8/5. 9/5. 7/5. 7/5. 8 the YOU are doing something wrong. Plus, you wheel hopped insanely in 2nd gear AND you didn't even turn TC or stability control completely off. you seriously call that a proper launch? Dear me, complete and utter disservice to this awesome car than can do sub 6 seconds.

This is it. This is the video that started it all for me. Matt, you made me fall in love with a Hyundai. and I couldn't be happier about it. I've been the proud owner of a VN PP in PB for 8 months now and the experience has been superb to say the least. Thank God for Albert Biermann joining the Korean domestic market. I love my car, thank you for bringing it to my attention first Mr Watson!

Thanks for the video.
Yea if I change cars I'll be getting one of these. Screw VW and Subaru and the focus RS I like the i30 N a lot more than all of the above. Just better in ways the others are not. Ok the RS and golf R and STI have AWD but for me they just cost too much for something that I can live without.

The Hyundai i30N and i30N Performance models have exactly the same engines mounted on the Hyundai Genesis Coupe facelift (same 2. 0 turbo, only the 250 HP and 360 Nm variant has the Genesis HP Coupe 260 HP and 360 Nm; 275 HP and 380 Nm is on both models.

There are a few oversights in this car but I'm sure they'll disappear in the next iteration. The N division is new, and it needs funds. And I'm sure Hyundai will provide them with plenty when the i30Ns inevitably sell like hot cakes.

I've been looking at focus ST and didn't give this car a thought just because you don't see them, well now I've seen it I think its fantastic and would buy one rather than the ST because it's rarer and I reckon on par too.

Just had a ride in a friends I30n and i'm so impressed! huge VW Golf fan but i would actually buy this over a GTI. Performance was great, styling was great (dark grey paint was lovely. and wayyyy cheaper than a Golf! :)

The only reason you wouldn't consider this if you're interested in a VW GTI is if you're just biased about the brands (or in North America where you can't get this? :( ). Apparently this one is a lot more fun to drive.
