New 585hp Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: the AMG A45-slaying EV hyper hatch!

I love the idea of an Ionic 5 N! I just test drove an AWD Ionic 5 SE, and absolutely loved it! For a base model, it was brilliant! The only gripe(s)/concerns about an N version are:
1. How much more will the N cost? An AWD Limited version already costs just over $60k US.
2. Will the N, or will not the N, give a longer mileage range? If it doesn-t, it-s just not worth the extra price, even if it-s faster. The AWD SE version I test drive was pretty quick already (some reviewers have gotten 0-60mph times in 4. 9 seconds. I currently own a 500whp E46 M3 and 400whp MK7 GTI, and they-re quick cars, and I was pleasantly surprised at how quick the Ionic 5 AWD was! It-s just an entirely different acceleration experience.
3. I-m afraid the N version will ruin the exterior styling. The plain Ionic 5, with the Limited spec wheels, looks just about perfect already. I wouldn-t want the N wheels. I wouldn-t care for diffusers, or anything like that because why would it need them if it does absolutely nothing for aero (if the N doesn-t give more range, and all these bits might ruin the exterior styling.
I would love a super quick Ionic 5, but it wouldn-t be worth it if it-s not all around better in range and styling.

I had a new Golf GTI mk 1 with the 1800cc engine, drove it for 27 yrs. I look back wit mixed feelings. It whas THE GTI to have and it was nice to drive. A faulty injector ruined the engine and the VW workshop couldn-t detect it. So a new engine whas put in but a mechanic made the mistake of forgetting to remove a clamp in the cooling circuit. On a long highway trip, the engine did not get enough cooling and broke down.
Bad VW garage. Fortunately, I found a mechanic who drove a GTI himself and he did all the maintenance work after that.
I would give the car a 7 out of 10. The hot hatches I liked were always just a bit over my budget: the Renault Clio Williams and the Ford Escort Cosworth.
Also, a Subaru Impreza WRX was just a little too expensive for me.

So what about the longer Warranties of Hyundia 5 and Kia's 7 year ones, to me if they still do a 5 and 7 year Warranty and the on track Warranty the I30 N had the German cars can kiss my you know what goodbye thier so called Prestige cars have 3 years at most and my Mini Cooper S F56 has the paint wear and rust stains to bare metal issue caused by bad rough door seals and they will tell you the cause is an external one not thier bad design, i was waiting for an Hyundia i20 N and here it is, had MK 7 Fiesta ST for a year and MCS so glad the likes of HYundia are going all out on Hot Hatches.

I love this design! The basic spec RWD in black at the local dealer however underwhelmed me because of the cheap interior with the full hard plastic doorpanels etc. The color choice is also very poor: black, white, grey, blue for the blind en green for the ill-sighted. I still have to testdrive it though. I hear in the reviews that it rides comfy rather than sporty. Hence I was looking at the Kia EV6 GT. It even has adaptive dampers apparently. If the Ioniq 5 N offers the same and some decent colors, I am in. Would make a fantastic and practical daily business car for me. Want one.

I used to laugh at Kia, I was a Audi BM, Merc owner. A couple of years ago ordered a new Mercedes sports executive, till I drove a Kia proceed GT, shocked sat there with it rolling round in my head can-t be a Kia. I had a 3 year old Audi that was being replaced had nothing but troubles with that, build quality was no longer there with all the German three. After speaking to friends it is clear that they have just lived on the past reps. The Koreans have gone out into the car world, not to beat the Japanese but everyone.

Hey Matt, are you going to be doing a review of the Ioniq 5 soon? I took it for a spin a few days ago and definitely was impressed. However, somewhat disappointed by the UK spec list. It-s lacking in any option for a panoramic roof, you don-t get all features included in a 45k Ultimate model, and I can honestly say that the rear spoiler definitely does not clear the window- Even at 70mph- Otherwise phenomenal car. Definitely lots of people wanting more UK based reviews.

i dodnt know id i like EVs or hate them
From one perspective they are the future but we want them to be? i like burning dead dinosaurs and making power but when a KIA has 585hp and does 0-60 in 3. 5 shits gone real so it might be like that in 5-10 years after all cars are quick and autonomus but not boring because this guys (tesla, kia, porche) have our backs and will still making fun cars (at least i hope so)

Unfortunately I'm too much of a petrol head and being UK based it's too much fun with clutch and gear stick to give it up just yet. EV's have about as much appeal to me as a mobility scooter. I know the future is looming but in the UK to me a manual is the only way to drive, especially if you're right handed like me (left hand on the gear knob. Anything else is just erm not really driving

I was looking at new cars for a year, fun, fast and economical, unfortunately I had to go for a diesel car to get that. I really enjoyed the ioniq and just wish they had an N version of that. Please please that is all we need. It doesn't even have to use all that electric power unless you push the -n- button, and some active exhausts open up so you can have some fun.

It is certainly modern but ultimately a 2. 2 ton tank that is frankly too wide for UK roads, same for the Kia clone in a slightly more stylish package. I am sure it will sell well with so much hype although when this becomes something you can buy and get within a reasonable timeframe is yet to be seen. Impressive yes, sports car? I think not!
