New Toyota Hilux v VW Amarok: DRAG RACE

Who-s ready for a Toyota vs Volkswagen pickup truck showdown! We-ve got the new Hilux going up against the Amarok! So how do the stats for these two compare? Well starting with the all-new Hilux, it-s powered by a 2. 8-litre 4 cylinder diesel which can produce 204hp and 500Nm of torque. It weighs around 2. 1 tonnes, and when new, will set you back about -40, 000. As for the Volkswagen, well that-s powered by a 3-litre V6 diesel, and as a result, it can put down 258hp and 580Nm of torque. It-s slightly heavier than the Toyota, at 2. 2 tonnes, and it also costs slightly more, coming in at -43, 000. So the VW clearly has more power, but will the extra weight drag it down?

Some of us aren't interested in speed but what matters alot is Vehicle brands, availability of spare parts and most importantly all vehicles are designed to carry us around. Basically, talking about all the similar trucks like these two in the video.

Never compare Toyota with Volkswagen. They're both in a class of their own. The VW has a petrol engine, one of the main reason why it's so fast. But once the diesel oil becomes lighter in the Hilux, the VW would do more work to catch up!

This drag race is not fair off course the Toyota has only 4 cylinder and deisel compare to volkswagen has 6 cylinder ang gasoline engine its very unfair but for me still toyota is the best

The power mode button slows down the hilux, we use the button for pulling out trailers or other cars stuck in mud. For speed, switch off eco mode and power mode, put the gear into sport
reply

Why don't you bring toyota tundra vs vw amarok? You are comparing v6 engine vs 4 cylinder engine. Doesn't make sense. It is like letting heavy weight and light weight boxers fight.
reply

S mode on the Hilux is Sequential mode and not sport mode, it gives you a celing gear, mainly for towing heavier loads so the automatic gearbox is continuously hunting
reply

you gotta put the hilux in power mode then put it in s1 then put your foot on the brake and give 2 rpm to launch then at 5 rpm shift to s2 then shift again at 5000rpm
reply

The comparison was not fair, you have pick ups with different engines V6 and Straight 4.
Always remember Toyota Hilux is UNBREAKABLE. IT'S LAST FOR DECADES.

Haha, one's built for off road driving and the other is built for on road driving. Who the hell would race a 4WD vs an AWD anyway?
love you guys

What is the point? This pillock has not read the book, does not understand the drive train, and frankly could not drive nails in a plank with a hammer
