BMW 3. 0 CSL vs Ford Mustang V8: DRAG RACE

You see, what we have here is a BMW 3. 0 CSL recreation - effectively a homage to the original Batmobile! But that s not all, it s been created by the team at Electric Classic Cars, so you won t be finding an internal combustion engine under the bonnet! Instead, it rolls up to the start line with an 85kWh battery pack (lifted from a Model S) and it has the ability to produce around 450hp & 400Nm of torque! In comparison, the Mustang has kept hold of its 5-litre V8, although the power output has been increased slightly from 450hp to 490hp. The torque output is still the same, at 530Nm. It s also slightly heavier than the BMW, tipping the scales at 1740kg (compared to 1, 550kg.

Takes out one of the best engines ever made and sticks in a electric motor. Good one. If you want to create a fake bmw, start from scratch. Make a fibreglass replica and put an electric motor in that. So it s faster than the original. Big bloody deal.

5 litres engine doing a quarter mile in under 13 sec. while you can see an engine with half this displacement in a German car doing the quarter mile in just 11 sec. Shame on muscle cars.
I don't know why those cars are called muscle cars.

I was hoping the E9 was packing a worked S54 or S65 or something. When I realised it was another electric thing I almost shed a tear. Sorry, but I have less than zero enthusiasm for electric restomods or whatever these things are called.

I respect the work of everyone, like that artist who took a shit in a tuna can and called it artist s shit but it s still a shit, same shit as putting an EV engine in a classic car, whatever that car might be. IMHO

you see. he wants 200k for that bmw, whitch is totally unsafe with that brake line. i dont know how that car is aloud on streets at all. or isnt, you never told. all power but not stopping power, fail

wish Richard would use cars with boring engines and convert them. The CSL has a lovely engine as standard. Convert something like a classic citroen, rolls royce, jaguar, mercedes etc.

As long as I can fill up my tank for a 600km drive within 5 minutes and an EV needs at least a tenfold of that, no matter how quickly he can accelerate I'll be far ahead when he unplugs.

These electric cars are boring. One and the same engine in different cars. The outcome is obvious. I thought this is going to be a really interesting new vs old race.

The poor BMW. I'm not a huge fan but if you ever sat and driven in a real 3. 0 CSL, you know what is missing and severely lacking in character without the engine.
