Meet the brand New BMW 5 Series & BMW i5! This is the first 5 Series that s been designed to come with an internal combustion engine as well as a pure electric car, so let s find out everything you need to know about these all-new cars! Starting with the design, there s very little difference between petrol-powered and electric cars. Both cars come with a wide double-kidney grille, and they re available with traditional vertical bar designs or in all-black for M Sport trim levels. Along the side, you ll find flush door handles and creases across the doors that seem pretty reminiscent of the E-Class, while at the back there s a whole load of black trim across the rear bumper, and the brake lights come in an all-new design. Step inside and the new 5 Series reminds us of the 7 Series! There s a huge widescreen infotainment system on the dash, which you can even use to connect to your Amazon Alexa account! The dashboard is available to be styled in aluminium, carbon fibre or wood trim, as well as an optional panoramic glass roof! All in all, the interior of the 5 Series and i5 is super smart! Then we come to the choice of engines. For those wanting to stick with an internal combustion engine, there s not a whole lot of choice at the moment, with just one petrol engine available - the mild-hybrid 520i comes with a 2-litre 4 cylinder engine and an electric motor which combine to produce 208hp and 330Nm. Plug-in hybrid cars are also on the horizon, but won t be released until 2024. However, for those choosing the i5, there are two options available, with the range-topper being the i5 M60. This comes with two electric motors which combine to produce 601hp - just 24hp less than an M5 Competition! What s more, it also produces an immense 820Nm - 70Nm more than the M5! When it comes to the price, the petrol-powered 5 Series starts from just under 50, 000, while the i5 starts from 73, 200, rising all the way up to 97, 000 for the i5 M60! So is it worth it? You ll need to keep watching to see for yourself!

I don't know what's up with BMW these days, but from generation to generation their cars are getting from bad looking to worse. Absolutely no inspiration in their design, the front headlights don't fit the bulkiness of their hoods at all, tail lights remind me of a poor attempt of resembling megane rs tail lights. The front grill is miles better looking than previous beaver tooth grills, but still hideous.
All of this is an insult to the BMW classic designs which were one of the coolest looking, iconic and evergreen designs in automobile history. Bah.

So a team of designers looked at this model and were like: Ah yes, this is how a BMW grill should look like.
I know that it partially looks so bad, because they want to put the sensors in the middle between the kidneys, but this is not really necessary.
They could also put them underneath the number plate or off center in one kidney or in both kidneys symmetrically the same sensors (the i5 costs so much that it won't really matter to have redundant sensors in the front.

As incomes of all but the super rich have been stagnating for nearly 50 years in the US and UK, and for many they are actually falling significantly, who do the car manufacturers think are going to be buying these tremendously expensive cars (and that's before you factor in high running costs) in the numbers that will make them a comercial success story. When average cars start approaching house price money something is broken.

I know this is only meant for the Chinese market, not for us. Just as with the new gen mini coopers. As if they decided; how can we make this as hideous as possible and voila. Unbearable to look upon but this is what they like. Ice cream gate has just passed and the economic situation in China is so bad, sales will not be as expected. China is basically bankrupt.

The reign of terror of Domagoj Dukec needs to end, he's the one responsible behind the atrocious designs of BMW for the past few years. I can't believe BMW executives sign off on his designs. The G31 is one of the best looking BMW 5 series ever and then came Domagoj Dukec who just took his pants off and took a big dump all over BMW design

Omg nooooooo whyyyyyyy looks like a older Chevy Cruze headlights now! I m sticking with the older f10 models f90 models and g30 models! I ll always be a bmw fan but come on we are supposed to improve not crash. I really don t think Germans are designing this. I believe a bunch of Mexicans from Mexico

Traditionally, car manufactureres would be very conservative with the styling of their mid-range/executive cars because thats where the meat is in the business. BMW on the other hand, just decided to blow up its whole business like a not-gone-well building demolition.

I like BMW s new IDrive 8 operating system but seeing the controls going to touchscreen interface only would present a bit of a challenger when you wan to change your seat setting, temperature control and so on. Do prefer the 2021/2022 LCI BMW look though

For me the Front just doesnt fit into the Character and Class of a 5 Series. It would maybe work on a 1 or 2 series. But the Rear End of the Car looks fine for me. But afterall the G30 remains the best looking 5 series ever (right after the e60 ofc.

BMW is now officially making ugly cars. I thought they were coming back when they made M5 cs but they completely lost it with this. These cars are getting fatter and fatter each year like the US citizens (it's a joke. I miss the old E39 days.

Just a shame thet the new M5 won't have an M-exclusive engine, so more lik b68! And is made even heavier than the current M5. BMW M is really loosing its sportiness. They allready have a much more sportier immage than they actually are.

In typical BMW fashion the exterior is definitely a step backwards. The bonnet is too high, making the front wheels look small and the headlights are too high. Overall the front looks like the fwd 2 series; not good.

It looks like the new 2022 Kia sedans. I honestly think Bmw has become the most controversial car company design- wise of all time now, after they ruined the m2, m3 and m4, the 7, and now the 5,

BMW why aren t you listening to your fans. We HATE these designs. I have a G11 7 series and I won t upgrade to the Chinese looking 7 series. Hope this would have looked better. Can t deal
