We ve got Porsche s 918 Spyder hypercar going up against a tuned Porsche 992 911 Turbo S! So let s see how the two compare. Starting with the 918 Spyder, it s powered by a 4. 6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 coupled with two electric motors. Combined, they can produce 887hp and 1, 280Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox, and the car tips the scales at 1, 674kg. Alongside it we have the 911 Turbo S. It s still equipped with the same 3. 8-litre twin-turbo flat-six as the standard car, however, it s had the ES Motor 750 package fitted to it. As a result, power output has increased from the stock 650hp and 800Nm to 888hp (1hp more than the 918) and 1, 000Nm! It sends this power to all four wheels via a PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it comes in slightly lighter than the 918, at 1, 640kg. The question is, while the 911 Turbo comes in at a total cost of around 210, 000, the 918 Spyder is valued at around 1. 4m! Will it prove its worth? There s only one way to find out LET S RACE!

There's few cars in the world that can beat a 911 Turbo S, even less if it's a tuned 911 Turbo S. Matt, you should've bought the 911 Turbo S instead of the GT3 RS. i mean the GT3 RS is insane but you should only use in to race, on track etc BUT the Turbo S is just a legend, a masterpiece and will do awesome both in drag, track, travel or shopping! It's that good!

Was not expecting that win from the 992. Normally tuned cars have big numbers but do not perform that well. This 992 is simply amazing. And another thing about the 992. What was never close to break down, it just goes, again and again. Great Job Jamie and ESmotorUK.

Do you know how many stage and enemy who does have execution meter? I can count it with my fingers

Looking at this just shows how scary a new porsche hypercar can be. That 918 is almost 10 years old and gives a good fight to a tuned 911 turbo s. If you would make that 918 again with current tech I don't know if any hypercar could touch it

I've watched a lot of these. and Porsches just do this better. Bet the torque curve is much much better on the porsche, giving more horse power lower in the rev range. It'll be better on the twisties too, I'd wager.

As soon as I saw that Black/Yellow 911, I knew Jamie was in attendance
Mat, thanks for having Jamie on your show. He definitely adds a hilarious personality to the equation.
Best show ever

if in 10 years the 100% engine succeeds in beating the hybrids which was unbeatable at the time. We need to hope for 5 years for the engine to catch up with the electric in terms of performance

One of the coolest things about these cars is that they can just do race after race and these Porsches will keep performing without any issues at all. Both of these cars are rock solid.

In the start he puts it into Race mode but the 918 has a mode called 'Hot lap' (can be seen below 'Race' mode) that he use later but not at the stand still start or so it seems atleast

Ngl this put such a huge smile on my face. These guys have such awesome energy. I won t ever have the money to enjoy these kind of cars, but it definitely feels fun as hell watching

Had the pleasure of driving 992 Turbo S and Taycan Turbo S at Porsche Experience in ATL. Also saw the Porsche 918 Spyder up close in museum they had there. Love Porsche's

Did the 918 get a battery top up between drags?
2nd race was probably most representative of the cars at their best with perfectly synchronised launches from the drivers.

918 SYDER is my dream car, but i have only a Boxster S 987 Ph2 but i adore it cause it's well tuned and have great modifications sound like a F1 car!
reply

I don't care if that 911 tuned turbo S is faster, I still would take a non-tuned car over that, and oh 918 Spyder in my dreams.
reply

Well thing is 918 has 888hp with electric motor, so it depends on them to have that much power, so no battery no that much power

One of my favorite races as a Porsche 992/911 owner fan boy and as a fan of both Matt/Carwow as well as Jamie/Officialy Gassed.

That Turbo S jumps out cause of the 8 speed transmission vs. the 918's 7 speed transmission with longer gears I'm thinking?

Love your vedios matt. Please bring a porshe with more than 1400 hp.
