some other annoying things: the wood look (i doubt it is real wood) inside feels cheap (tab on it with your finger, it feels as if it is plastic, the infotainment stuff looks like a tablet is glued onto it (in my opinion it looks also cheap. the driving is really nice, did some thousand kilometers in it already over all sorts of terrain (am a mb testdriver. and the 3 different desingns of the infotainment (classic, sport and whatever the other is called) look like the son of whoever designed it. it is terrible. i would never spend a 6 figure amount on that

I am so surprised that the shaky left-right suspension transcends up to the GLS. I own the GLA and had thought it is limited to my car as it is a cheaper/smaller/sportier SUV. I think since the German manufacturers started lowering the weight of the cars, they messed up a bit with the suspensions. I find myself often on more than a decade car feeling more stable and comfortable on road than the new ones. As if comfort is the least a buyer is looking for nowadays. Built quality keeps dropping too.

Too big, too blancmange.
However, I wish MB would stick to pimping this platform and leave the G Wagon to be the utility/military wagon it was
Too Halfords with all the colour changing LED strips. the Maybach is too pimp my ride, obnoxiously overblown as most Maybach’s are
The actual AMG is a hoot, all other AMG badged styling jobs are lame. I’m not sure what I would buy in this segment, they all seem to be competing for the same overblown look.

Yeah, its not bad. I appreciate the front end when its in motion. It's got a nice slope to it. Classic Mercedes business front end. I like the 6 cylinder diesel. It makes it less massive and you can easily move that beast with the diesel torque. You can set your watch by a Mercedes diesel. It's too bad anyone who wanted can't have one. All of the people who could benefit and enjoy from German Mercedes Benz engineering and become better drivers as a result.

A very thorough review. Aesthetics are always divisive. Exterior is bland but then again not busy. AMG looks better. But panel and trim misalignment at this price point is not acceptable. As is fake exhaust shrouds. Fake exhaust exit versus functional front aerodynamic vents is bizarre and an inconsistent design methodology.

Been a while since i seen a good looking Mercedes damn this one is also so ugly. They might need to rework the star also into some shield sort of like peugeot did with their lion plain star looks soooo outdated. And they dont hide it also or make it smaller like on the older cars damn its like massive on all new models.

I imagine that car is a press car. That being the case, why isn’t it perfect. Mercedes knew it was going to be reviewed, So why give journalists a car that looks like it’s been put together by monkeys. Condensation in both the headlights is unacceptable as well. What the hell are they thinking

Mercedes more than ever have been taking shortcuts and outsourcing car parts. It's a shame and very disappointing. The best era was the w212, w204, and the w221, and honestly, it might even be the generation before that. Hopefully, with the new e class coming out its a start of a new era.

Shut up about the gear selector. All the European reviewers used to clown American cars for having it up on the steering by column and it was unrefined. Now it’s smart and doesn’t know why more don’t have it up there. These reviewers flip flop all the time lmao

Mercedes decided to go down the route with cost cutting everywhere. Not only when it comes to materials and rigidity but also assembly precision appearently. The interior design in the GLS, there is no S-class about it. Such a shame!

And I'll never buy an SUV since I don't want to drive a hous that tips over if you drive it to fast. But if you want to blend in with all the other soccer moms, you have a big choice of SUVs to chose from.

Let's be honest. If a buyer has enough credit to afford this they may as well stretch for the vip luxury 4 seat option.
If you need 3rd row seats for soccermom activities get a kia carnival

Good to see the comeback of the old wide screen display. So much better than all those new S-class displays, they are so ugly and just don't fit. This is one of the best interiors a car can have

We have the It's a Mercedes Benz commercials running here in the states. I like to think of their brand as a scam for the working affluent class that need to impress others with their car.

It’s nice, but the Maybach version looks soooo much better. It’s much cooler to. I honestly think since it is basically an S class SUV, it needs to look more like an s class.

What hasn't changed is how magically the car starts falling apart as soon as the manufacturer warranty expires, and you spend the best part of your salary trying to maintain it!
