Let's be real, if you're gonna spend that money, you're usually not in the market for a VW. And if you want an EV of similar size (or bigger, more efficient, more charging options for way less money, you're just not beating the Model Y with this.
VW complains they can't compete with Chinese EV's on price, but they can't compete with American EV's build in Germany either. It's just not looking great for them. It's like these people refuse to do decent market research.
Sure, Tesla's are far from perfect but they seem to be the only non-Chinese manufacturer realizing that consumers are willing to accept the cost-cutting measures that make a Tesla less like an ordinary car (like the single screen, no sensors etc) IF that makes a pretty good EV affordable (especially if you get some sort of tax credit.

This look better than i expected, i mean it's a VW Sedan, they're not supposed to look exciting. but personally i'ts not my Thing, now if this was an EV Golf or Scirocco GTI/R and it would look unassuming, that would be different.
People wonder why do People buy this and that instead of enter new EV Brand here. This is why:
These will sell well because of Brand Loyalty and easy access to Repairs/Service, if your VW EV and other Legacy Brand EV has issues or breaks down, you'll get a Replacement for the Time its in the Shop without any Hassle. Just one of the many Reasons why so many People prefer to buy an EV from a Brand they have good Experiences with instead of daring to buy some Brand they had no Experience with whatsoever.

My daily is an ID5 and the assistance systems are annoying I’m not gonna lie but after 5k miles of ownership so far it’s a defo improvement over our previous ID3 daily. Oh and the glovebox, yes Matt you were correct! On the LHD version you get a full size glove box. VW were penny pinching with the RHD.
Do I regret buying Absolutely not! As a daily driver to commute in it’s perfect! What about if it was my only car I’d say I’d struggle with it tbh. Range, charging infrastructure. all minus points with all EV’s. My take is this, I’m being green by offsetting all my V8’s with an EV as a daily

Hit the nail on the head, as it pertains to the democratization that has occurred with the advent of EVs and how it's taken the excitement out of the competition. I am not anti EV at all, but as a car lover that has always jumped immediately on car reviews of new ICE vehicles, I find myself clicking on new EV reviews halfheartedly. Of course, there will be differentiating factors but EVs are now as exciting as mobile phones, especially when evaluating them based on reviews.

Great review. I wish they’d keep the Passat range, but make it an EV. The one thing that I don’t recall seeing, or hearing is the safety attributed to the VW range. Are the VW EVs as safe as their ICE vehicles. What’s the safety like compared to other EVs. Volkswagen has long been a very safe vehicle range for its occupants, but what are the EVs like. I’m not talking about the batteries as safety as those are always a worry within reason. Love the videos mate.

Damn shame we’re not going to have combustion engine cars any more. They assume these electric toys are greener, but that’s just not the case: all the damage’s done at the production stage when they produce those batteries, besides where does (most of) that power we need to recharge these toys comes from
Besides, internal combustion engine cars are more affordable and you just can’t beat that engine sound gonna miss that

This car and all ID models, in my opinion, lack charisma and seem to be designed by someone who has no affinity for cars but rather household appliances. To me, all these electric models by Volkswagen, especially the ID series, appear remarkably unattractive and lacking in style. Other brands do not follow this trend. I've been driving VW for forty years, but if this trend continues, it might be my last.

its looks like garbage and costs like some high valued Mercedes, i think that you could buy new E class with 200hp diesel and better equip then this shit here for same or similar price and what is more important depreciation of Evs are huge lattely so basically you will lose 50% of value in 2 years on this /any EV junk while as i see some used cars even gets value up or didnt go down nothing

I don't like Tesla, but at this price I'm sorry but I would buy 100% a Model Y, I don't care if the gaps are wider, that car has all included in it for cheaper, better efficiency roomier Super Chargers that are cheaper than any other competition. I'd consider the ID7 if it started at 40K base model But even there, you can find better cars, the Germans are doomed.

I prefer the rear window feature. I just bought a new car and I repeatedly open the rear windows when I want to talk to someone out of my driver window. It is because my last car only had 2 electric windows and they were always the closest. It’s dumb, but I rarely use the rear windows, weighing the two problems I prefer vw’s option.

VW recently said they'll replace the ID. 3 with the Golf name in the future. I hope they do that for the rest of the lineup - I'm so bored of the corporate number convention of naming cars. I want a Lupo not an ID. 1; it just sounds so dull!

that is goping ugly. and because its an ev, it will fail, break down, catch fire and be switched off remotely by vw if you do something it doesnt like. Oh and it will be very expensive to maintain, service and charge.

Now I start to realise the number after the ID will indicate length of the same (boring) design. Logically ID5 should've been this and the ID4's fastback version should've been called something else

As a former VW salesman and Current VW Jetta GLI owner (Mk7. 5 Unitronic Stage 1) i honestly don’t really like it. I wish I did but I don’t haha. The design is just too plain, even for vw.

VW could go a bit more to the extremes and just give one of the models like 800 hp. There's always someone willing to have that much power. Then this one is a real sleeper.

Those dashboard controls are just terrible. Opertaing everything via touchscreen has nothing to do with safety nor user friendliness. Pure distraction and annoyance IMO.

Biggest difference is that now you can see on streets VW's 20 or 30 years old. In 20 or 30 years there will be not a single one of these new modern EV ID VW's. Bet
