The original Dodge Viper is a special car -- and today I'm reviewing the 1992 Viper. First I'll take you on a tour of this special Viper and show you all the quirks and features of one of the original Dodge Viper models built; then I'll get the Viper on the road and drive it -- and I'll let you know what it's like behind the wheel of Dodge's modern muscle car, the 1992 Viper RT/10

You love the Viper for the exact reason I do. Ram a massive engine in a small, basic car and hold on for dear life. I also got to geek out with a salesman that got sent to Chicago to drive the pre-production car at the Chicago Auto Show in 92 in the dead of winter. He said it scared the shit out of him.

My dream car. I've followed this car since I first saw it in a Car and Driver as a concept, since it first came into production, the crappy cop show it had, up until its death. And now it will be nothing more than that. A dream: (

Perfect example of wealth entitlement: Why put door locks, windows or security on it? Doesn't the driver have personal bodyguards and security to guard the car? Why not just park it in your 10 car garage next to the Ferrari?

Fun fact:
I had a viper, and when you see other people with vipers, I would get asked a lot too see my exhaust burn on my calf. It s a right of passage owning a Viper, and I still wear it with pride to this day.

I think the exposed screws look good. I like to be able to see the engineering and how things are put together.
That doesn't excuse the terrible material quality though.

I get the feeling that Doug has no understanding about cars prior to the year 2000. To me a car not having antilock breaks or airbags and stuff like that is no big deal.

Love the gen 1 Vipers, they are absolutely amazing. Those gen 1s stared out all and was the poster car in the 90s. I'd take one of those over any other 90s car.

does the badge on the hood really have snake skin patterning on it, or is it just old dodge plastic that s taken on that special cheap patina over the years?

I drove a 90's viper GTS around a few blocks and down the road and it was the best sports car experience I've had. So much power, sound and road feel.

How does this not get a cool factor of a 10/10? You bring this thing to a car show and you'll get old guys lining up to get your number.
