The transmission selector knob on the new GT looks strikingly similar to any of the 3 climate control selectors in the second gen Scion xB (among other Toyota vehicles. But don't worry, there's nothing borrowed in this ridiculously expensive Ford. For those who never worked in automotive retail/aftermarket, let me explain: switches, knobs, buttons levers, etc are made under contract by third party companies. The same is true of wiper & window lift motors, wiring harnesses, stereos, speakers, electric screw-drive & linear-drive cylinders, hydraulic cylinders (lift supports, shocks/struts, windows, carpets, & many other parts. What this means in practicality is that there are parts that are basically the same, made by one company with different facades for different auto makers. If you pay attention, you can see these things, & you eventually realize that a 500, 000 car is made with the same horribly unreliable parts as a 75, 000 car. Sorry for the shot at Land Rover there. Ok, I'm not really sorry. Land Rover deserves it.

I really like the new GT for all the reasons stated. until it's compared side by side with the 2005 GT and suddenly I really don't care about all the new tech for new tech's sake. Just don't care and don't feel like it's quantifiable as much as the hype would suggest. I come away from this comparison and wish Ford would have taken a much different path with the new GT, and I say that in light of appreciation for all the things they actually did do. 2005 is a legendary model. It's far more endearing. And I just saw a 2005 GT pass across the intersection in front of my lowly '15 Focus just yesterday. It's still got all the magnetism and class it should have.

Those Goodyear Eagle F1 tires truly are absolute shit. A lot of American sports cars shipped with them and they're complete garbage. They've actually been known to shatter if they hit a pothole hard enough when it's cold outside, and even on hot days, the traction is pitiful. The first thing I did when I bought my Corvettes was replace them. I'm glad they finally wised up and started shipping them with Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Doug Everything that is new is better Demuro. The older car was built for nostalgia. The new one is built for performance with no apologies. They have a different purpose and don't confuse Doug for a historian on automobiles, he is a pundit for automobiles. I love that it like a hobby for him and he gets to do his dream job for all of us who dreamed.

That guy was awkward trying to talk with Doug. You'd think that Doug would go about this in 2 ways1. Ok the guy is the owner. I usually dont do colabs or have anyone else talking. But its his car and he let me borrow it. So I guess he can chime in. 2. Take 2 separate rides but talk to the guy that in one of those test rides. He needs to speak alone.

It's amazing how when these two beautiful cars were angled nose to nose on the track, the thing that most caught my eye was the flat land's contrast to the mountain and the mountain's contrast to the sky. That was out of this world beauty. I would have loved to be there just for that.

Ford should change to a different tire brand than Pirelli - so tired of replacing them with tires that cost 1/4 the price but perform better. The S550 Mustang Pirelli tires are pretty dangerous (no traction) for nearly 300 a tire compared to better ones at half the cost.

The new one is less compromised and truer to the original ethos of the original FordGT IMO. The 2005 one is truer to the design of the original, but in terms of looks I would choose either the original or the new one. I don't think the 2005 ages well.

The one thing I don't like about the New Ford GT is how tight it is in the cabin. I noticed that in a lot of newer cars (2011 - present, they're so packed full of material, you can't breath Camaro guys know what I'm talking about.

15: 16. what the hell did Karl do to his glasses to make them go from a normal clear pair to dark sun shades in a matter of a few seconds. I've played it back so many times and I honestly cannot see how he does it. It's magic right?
