Ahhh, that classic, plain as white bread Audi look. I miss that look. Said nobody ever. I do really still like the front end view of these cars though. The rest is Meh. But that front end did a great job looking great, being unique and challenging BMW which arguably had (and still has) the best front end designs in the segment. But then again. My BMW 335i M-Sport (not even a real M car) is faster than this 100k Audi. 4. 8 0-60? A Dodge Durango SRT is faster than that. It's still plenty fast for the street, but to think you can buy a used 10k BMW that's faster and also drives incredibly tight and does well on a track is kind of sad when these things are still going for 80-100k even a decade old.

the second dial next to the gauge dimmer is to adjust the headlight level, its the same switch panel that audi use in the vw golf and a3. the idea is that if you have alot of luggage in the back the front of the car will pitch up so your lights would be shining in other drivers eyes, this guage allows you to point the lights down to stop this. since the R8 doesnt have storage in the rear this cant happen so you dont need the switch.

You are wrong. It's right, the LED running light trend was starting by Audi. But not with the R8 in 2008. It was the Audi A8 W12 in 2004. I don't know if this Model wasn't available in the US, but in Germany. So this was 2004. Other German brands had these LED running lights in Germany also before 2008. Maybe it's because of the other laws in the US that the trend was very late there compared to Germany/Europe.

The other dial besides the dial for the brightness of the cockpit is to adjust the height of the lights if the car have ordinary halogen headlights. Xenon headlights have automatic height adjustment so the second dial is not built in. That's really common and was available in millions of other cars. And yes, the third cup holder in the middle is for an energy drink can

I think I can speak for just about all kids of my age when I say that what sealed the deal for the R8's reputation was the fact that this was the car of choice of Tony Stark, the walking definition of cool. I will always remember this as Tony Stark's car, and if I can ever afford a supercar, it will 100% be an R8.

Doug that's blank switch next to the dimmer knob may be the angle of the direction for the head lights allowing the headlights to angle up in order to light up farther out in front of the car, and closer to the car for foggy conditions. Looks identical to a few cars I've driven in the past.

Audi R8 uses aluminium frame and have a weak spot above the front wheel, it would crack and made the car handle a bit flimsy. It have to strengthen and weld by a specialist. Audi found this weakness and fix it on the later R8 but the first ones have this weakness, so watch out if u want to buy it.

Audi and VW uses that missing button for headlight adjustment up and down. When its not fitted with LED or Xenon lights. Only used with halogen bulbs. I really dont know if the R8 ever was delivered with Halogen lights, so the switch will for ever be unused

The Audi R8 is a looker to this day. its one of the few cars who's design was ahead of its time. as such it doesnt look out of place today, in fact it still looks modern. I would love to have one, but im thankful to have driven and been in one many times.
