NEW DOUGSCORE SPREADSHEET: E-MAIL ME WITH COOL CARS dougdemuroyahoo. com I'm moving to California The DougScore is changing Here's a boring update video. Back to regular videos on Thursday. Paul Dacus: I always thought the Value part of the Doug Score was underrated. Partitioning by weekend & weekday is not people's Main Reason For Buying a car, it's whether they can afford it or not. You can easily see the divergence between the Doug Score & real life: All the top Doug Score cars are vehicles No One can afford (or even find, and when you look out on the road, all you see are Camrys, F150's and Accords. This kinda makes the Doug Score a Worthless Novelty in some ways. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing what Doug thinks are the greatest cars where price is no object, but I also want to know what he thinks if price IS an object, and not so much what makes a car a great weekend driver vs work-a-day driver because the latter doesn't impact whether I will buy a car at all. I mean, in the top right recommended column is why the BMW i3 Absolutely Isn't Worth 50, 000. Right there, seems the whole video is about the Value of the car, not whether it is good on weekends vs weekdays. Maybe a third Doug Score about the Overall Value of the car for the money which is the single most important determinant for whether people will buy a car or not. I know it's in the Weekday portion of the score, but in The Real World it outweighs all the other factors by far. The highest value car on your spreadsheet is a 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with a perfect value score of 10 (the only one. Let's face it, you gotta think that there are cars that are truly Better Values than that. Look at the Top 10 value cars on your spreadsheet, then note the next time you actually see one on the road. Honda Odyssey? Maybe. Audi R8? C'mon. Re-rate all the scores according to Value For Real Life, and post as a separate score, along with Weekend & Weekday scores. That would make these scores a LOT more useful IMO.

This guy is a joke. His Doug Score is the most biased comparison of cars I have ever seen. For one he doesn't even own the cares he's reviewing, and he only drives these 'reviewed cars' for just couple hours. First impressions are important, but they don't accurately reflect on the cars true workmanship or overall performance. For instance, tall people don't like small cars or smaller people don't like really high cars that are difficult to get into. Take his advice with a big rock of salt.

I know you explained the features category as a reflection of how good the features are if you bought the car right now but doesn't that mean your features score for cars you reviews early on will become inflated when you review cars two or three years down the line? Are you just going drop the features score every couple of years? Is that why dropped the features score of some cars in this update

When are you going to put reliability in it's own category? How can quality and reliability be all in one category? You can have the top of the line parts and materials in your vehicle, but yet it stays in the shop. Just because a vehicle has quality materials doesn't necessarily mean that it isnt prone to breaking down. Prime example of that is the Land Rover.

Welcome to San Diego Doug. I am in San Diego too. It is a great place to live with great weather. I will wait for 2 years for you to do a review on the new Tesla Roadster 2020. I have pre-ordered the Roadster 2020 and I am looking forward to driving it hopefully in 2020. By the way Doug, has anyone told you that you look like the younger version of Jay Leno?

Congrats on moving to San Diego. Business must be good if you're moving out here. because the cost of living and the taxes taxes taxes are insane. The upside however. Is that you won't have to go very far to find interesting cars for your show

Hey Doug, love your license plate display. I have about 1, 000 on the walls of my garage from some 110 countries. Now I've run out of room, and have too many hidden away in boxes. Need any Australian plates for your collection?
