Doug - you and all other auto journos have to stop comparing this car to the A6/E/5. Its an S/7/A8 competitor, always has been. I remain confused as to why your entire industry doesnt seem to get this. constantly seeing videos, articles & other write-ups comparing this car to the E63 and M5, and then complaining about the price. This is nonsensical. Its not in the same category of car. its platform will underpin the next flying spur, and I believe partially contributes to the new A8. that, along with the size, level of fit + finish inside, and finally the price should clue everyone in that this isnt a competitor to the mid-size sport/luxury sedans. It costs more than an E63 because the E63 is the most expensive possible version of a car that at the lower level is almost a taxi in some parts of the world. The cheapest Panamera is still a very expensive car to build and is designed/built on a platform that makes almost no compromises. Of course its more expensive. Thats why it costs as much as an AMG S-Class or an M760. because thats what its competiting against.

The most useless technology in the car industry is putting an adjustable rear spoiler. Like why? Yes I know how wings/spoilers work providing downward force to keep the car firmly grounded/better road-grip especially around corners or highway and track driving but this is a wagon. You dont need all those extra gimmicks since youre going the speed limit and the vehicle is already heavy enough. Spill one drink on the center console and all the electronics will get messed up. lol

At 13: 26. that LED-Matrix high beam assistant sounds to me like it would be some sort of auto-dimming feature for your LED headlights, when your own vehicle recognizes an on-coming vehicle, so as not to blind that driver. This way you don't have to concern yourself with such a task of switching your headlights to low beam, thus also not needing to remove your hands from the steering wheel. But that's just my guess.

Those vents are not for the windshield defroster Doug. The windshield defroster vents are right at the bottom of the windshield. This is the dashboard vent that Porsche has done on the Macan and Cayenne as well, which is pointed towards the interior of the car but not to let you feel the cold or warm air directly. It cools or heats the car in a more subtle way, which I enjoy and imagine most people enjoy.

Tbh I watch this guys videos for no reason. Half the time he just says stuff to say it and it thoroughly annoys me. High beam adaptation on vehicle recognition I have no idea what that means and obviously no one does, it really makes no sense how on earth does that not make any sense, the high beams turn off when it senses an oncoming vehicle? How hard is that to wrap your head around?

I still feel like the new amg mercedes station wagon has a little edge over it but just by a penny's worth, the interior in the Mercedes is always very luxurious, and so is the technology, it's the same with the porche, but something about the porche just doesn't seem right, I am not hating, it is a beautiful car. Top in its class in fact

The split in the rear light bar makes sense when you watch the regular Panamera video and the rear spoiler deploys. It's there for styling as the extensions to the spoiler create a line when the spoiler is parked and it lines up with the split in the light bar. They've just used the same part on the Sport Tourismo.

High beam adaptation on vehicle recognition in German Hochstrahlender Absturz des entgegenkommenden Fahrzeugs a direct translation would be High shining over oncoming vehicle. All of that means auto dimming headlight. That's why German is the best compound nouns, and it doesn't translate well

Thank you for the e63 wagon comparison, as a fellow e63 wagon owner I appreciate it. I never thought that the e63 would be a good value till this video. Sadly Porsche doesn't offer this model at their experience center. It's on the web site, but they don't have one in their corral - going next week.

if you think its expensive then in Australia, Porsche take price gouging to new heights, this car would be USD 320, 000 plus options. thats not all made up by taxes either, Porsche Australia love to rip us off. about 100, 000 on top. Just think how many they sell I've seen one on the road in Melbourne
