The 50, 000 Subaru WRX STI Type RA Is the Most Expensive Subaru Ever

The 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA is the ultimate Subaru WRX STI -- and today I'm reviewing the STI Type RA to show you all the ins and outs of the 50, 000 Type RA, the most expensive Subaru ever. Chris Rogers: The reason behind that quick initial turn in is the drivetrain layout, the entire engine and almost half the tranny is in front of the axles. This gives you a more 'planted feel in the front when taking a spirited drive, but as soon as you push the envelope. Holy understeer This is why the Evo's were superior vehicles, their iron block inline 4's were nestled beside the tranny right between the front axle shafts- light years ahead of Subaru's design. This is one of those design flaws that you can't mod your way out of, the WRX was forever nose heavy. Even with a flat motor it was still much larger and heavier than it's competitions inline 4 so the boxer design was a hindrance rather than an attribute. Ever wonder why Evo's went on to take some of the most coveted handling awards while the WRX fell out of the spotlight? This is why. The Evo 9 is still considered to be one of the best handling cars ever made when given a few minor mods, while the WRX hasn't won a single important time attack event since Jun Automechanic used the previous body style. Just ask HKS.

A friend of mine had an ra, think it was a 96ish model. The differences were huge. a regular sti has all the options. a/c, leather seats, plush trims, electric windows and all that jazz. The ra had none of that. didn't even have handles inside to hold onto to get out. It had a lot of alloy panels, water squirters on intercooler and a stack of other performance bits. It was a totally different demon than a gt or other sti models and ate them all for brekky. There's a bit more to the retuned ecu. the mates one could be run up to 25psi without changing anything. try that with your gt and kaboom

I have a 2019 Subaru WRX STI Limited, and I prefer the Limited over the RA. Depending on the country you love in, the proce varies. I live in the Philippines and work in the U. S. The price STI Limited in the Philippines is 2. 7m in pesos=51, 000USD. The RA in the Philippines wasn't doing so well in sells and it was cheaper. Buyers wanted either the Standard STI or the Limited.

Wait These Subarus only make 300 hp? What? Why would anyone buy this thing? I feel like my 392 challenger with 480 hp is slow at times and that car comes with one of the greatest automatic transmissions, can outrun all the rivals in its class from the same year The Subaru corners a lot better but no wonder they never try to race me on the street they are slow

Correct me if Im wrong (dont be jerks about it people) I own a 2018 STI but as of 2015 arent the STI and WRX technically their own cars its no longer a Impreza WRX STI and such. like arent they their own individual platforms? Yes despite the new WRX and STI generally being the same platform. get what Im saying?

That's good that it has some better areo an better handling an better pistons am remapped ecu but a power increase from 305 to 310 hp is kinda lameFor 50k that thing should be atleast 400hpFor a 12. 000 dollar increase over the base sti to the type RA

If youre the type of person that buys a street car and worries about warranty being void youre a complete idiot If you dont want it to race, fine. But dont be one of those idiots whom wanted to make it faster but cries about voiding the warranty.

I had one of these for a year once. Funnest car I ever owned, loved the hell out of it. (Not the Type RA mind you, regular STi) I put Blizzak snow tires on it during our IL winters, and it was ridiculously amazing in the snow. God I miss that car.

Good lord these cars are absolute garbage I literally find it funny someone would drop in excess of 50K on a Subaru. Even funnier is they've got a driving mose called intelligent It must be an erector seat for anyone with an average or above IQ

Why does the list include the R34 but not the R35? As for the exhaust. IMHO, manufacturers don't pay much attention to exhaust at this price level because they know the owner will replace it. They also have to comply with the evil EPA standards: (
