2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 review! Today I'm reviewing the new 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2, which is an off-road pickup truck from Chevrolet. I'm going to show you all around the Silverado ZR2, and I'll show you the quirks and features of the ZR2. I'm also going to drive the ZR2 and tell you what it's like behind the wheel of the new Silverado ZR2. Kristofer: I have LITERALLY never seen a Raptor, since the 2nd gen came out, that wasn't 79k or higher at a lot, and trust me I've looked hard so when this launched I ordered this ZR2 in January, very happy with the purchase, the biggest clearance issues for this truck is just the tires size, easy to fix and the TrailBoss trucks are easy to level so this will be a breeze too, it's not totally different just a little different in terms of suspension geometry

The ZR2 Colorado's primary selling point (at least by comparison to the other midsize pick ups) isn't its power or styling either, it's that front locker. I think, that plus the better interior and features and tech might be enough to get the Chevy and GM fans back into the truck world, and sway a lot of serious offroaders over to the brand and offering. The ZR2 Silverado could be better for sure, but I think that GM and Chevy are looking to reinvigorate a different market, than the baha trophy truck market.
I agree though that this is not really a Raptor fighter, like the TRX is a raptor fighter, as the ZR2 is more of a Power Wagon fighter. Like the Power Wagon it has front and rear lockers, decent interior and tech, and the standard powertrain is a 6. 2l NA V8. The main difference is a Silverado is a half ton while the PW is a three-quarter ton. I would not be surprised though if the ZR2 has better payload and towing numbers, as the PW itself is not too good at either thing given the kind of offroad goodies it has.
Perhaps one day GM/Chevy will make a baha trophy truck offering, but IMO the ZR2 is not really one and was never meant to be one.

33's aren't a big deal. They aren't a lot bigger than a standard Silverado considering standard Silverado's come with 32s.
Chevy/GMC are behind, new F150 4x4s come with 33s, as do Rams, and the new Tundra. Chevy has room for 35 tires on these trucks, I'm not sure why they didn't do that, other than, maybe having to deal with getting them tested for MPGs by the EPA. Many Trail Boss owners upgrade to 35's without any modification.
Did anyone else see the Lincoln Mark LT halfway through the video?

I don t think this was made to directly compete with the Raptor and TRX. This ZR2 stands as a middle ground. It has off-roading goodies yet can still be used for truck stuff. It maintains a payload of 1, 500 lbs and can tow almost 9, 000 lbs. The Raptor on the other hand only has a payload of 1, 000 lbs and can tow only around 7, 000 lbs. I feel the ZR2 is the all around better deal.

Doug, you completely misplaced this truck in the proper segment. With the front and rear lockers, and standard width vs the wider TRX and Raptor, this is more competitive with the Power Wagon. This is catered towards trail use and the camping lifestyle; not baja or dune use. I m surprised Chevy didn t make this point clear to you.

Chevy just seems to be boring on their Trucks/SUV s now in day.
-Ford has the Raptor, Bronco, etc.
-Dodge/Jeep have the TRX, Rubicon, Trailhawk, etc.
THEN here s Chevy making everything
boring by throwing cosmetic packages on trucks and making all their SUV s non off-road capable and suburbia bland.

The price is going to kill this truck. Having a front locker is amazing and its the only full size truck that has one. If the price was about 10k less like Doug said this truck could have some serious overland potential, especially if AEV gets involved like they did on the Colorado ZR2 Bison.

This is not Chevys response to the Raptor and TRX. This is more like a response to the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. GM s response to the Raptor and TRX is the Hummer EV. I m honestly quite surprised Doug and everyone else isn t realizing this and trying to make the ZR2 look bad.

I find it funny you can figure out all the little details on this truck but couldnt figure out that a pt cruiser has ten stereo presets (push the button twice) and the hooks you were wondering about are to secure the back seat when it folds up lol

Nah, it still looks like a Silverado with Autozone parts. Raptor looks like F-150 with A LOT OF AutoZone MODS. TRX is a Ram with Autozone parts but with Hellcat. Chevy needs to step up their Autozone game or bolt a blower on.
