Doug talks a lot about how customers expect their crossovers to get to 60 in 4 s but I don't think that's the average consumer. If you stack this up next to the Outback it's comparable to the most powerful wilderness model regarding acceleration, off-roading geometry figures, and even the interior space.
In the end Subaru customers want something practical and confidence inspiring, and I think that's what this is. (although I do agree that a larger battery option would be nice)

I love Subaru. I am an Outback owner and the car is perfect for my outdoor/adventure/dog lifestyle. But, I feel like this EV just seems too much like Toyota was behind of it. Now I get that a good chunk of Subie is owned by the T-Man, but I feel if Subie really wants to cater this vehicle towards the adventure junky who wants an EV, going in the direction of how the Outback/Forester or even Crosstrek would have been the move. This just seems more like a Subieified electric Rav4 imo.

I love Subaru. I am an Outback owner and the car is perfect for my outdoor/adventure/dog lifestyle. But, I feel like this EV just seems too much like Toyota was behind of it. There is nothing about this new EV that should entice anyone to buy it; from its lack of performance; cheap and ugly styling; lack of range; etc. ; I don t care that they slap an adventure badge on it and add big ugly plastic fenders on it which they describe of rugged through marketing. The new WRX is also very disappointing and they have cancelled the STI; sounds to me like Subaru has become the industry leader in saving money through the development of new cars

doug this is the only time i have disagreed with you. isn t this Subaru s first electric car? Isn t it more practical to prioritize the available space INSIDE the car rather than the very limited space you find under the frunk? and it s less powerful THATS A GOOD THING. we should normalize slow EVs that get the job done. if you ve never driven an electric car before, the acceleration is still better than anything you ve ever driven

Looks so much like a RAV4 I can imagine Subaru was displeased with the outcome.
0. 1 inches of clearance less than my stock Cherokee XJ - even without live axles this thing's no joke should do very well in the snow.
The Pacific Northwest is going to buried in these. BC included.
Strategically placed microphone right above the driver's head for good speech quality?

It's a brand new car and god look at the piano black plastic everywhere covered in dust. Why do car manufacturers still use this crap?
Also, what an idiot approach to the gauges. It's like they change for the sake of change; we have stopped improving completely in the last ten years.
They put driving modes into a shopping cart but forgot the glove box.
Gosh what an embarrassment.

I don t think a lot of people realize this, but all of that black plastic you see on many of these off-road oriented cars isn t just for looks, it s meant to protect the paint from flying gravel, and if it were to get scuffed, it ll be less obvious than scratched paint since you can just scrub out any material that got into the scuff.

Like the Taycan, this is an electric car for Subaru people, not a subaru for electric car people. I don't think the average customer for brand new subaru's gives a hoot about performance/acceleration because they only drive to the yoga studio, whole foods, local grass fed hiking trails, farmer's market, Maine and Vermont.

I m glad Doug is getting sponsorships now or at least is excepting them now to be honest listening to him talk about Kim Kardashian and some weird car series for non-car people on a low quality mic is pretty cringe, but I know he got at least 100 grand to do this so I m not gonna tell him to stop.
