SUBARU ORANGE COAST The 2020 Subaru Outback is an excellent family wagon -- and it's the most popular wagon in America. Today I'm reviewing the 2020 Subaru Outback to show you why people love it so much, and I'm going to show you all the quirks and features of the new Outback. I'm also going to drive the 2020 Outback to show you what it's like on the road

Dropping my personal experience. I have a 2005 Sti and a 2012 outback that was given to me. Yes it probably the most ugly color (Copper/Bronze it screams old lady) BUT I love it to death. It feel extremely under powered and if you floor it it STRUGGLES to even get to 95mph, I would be impressed if someone has hit 100mph in 2. 5l non turbo outbacks if they were not going downhill, but regardless of that the car runs as expected. Super reliable, super simple, I love my climate control knobs (that tactile feel and not having to look away from he road when driving is always reassuring) Doug is right, it is simple and it does that the best. When I floor it in the outback it does nothing at all exciting, so for me thats where my Sti comes into play. This car reminds you Hey I can take you anywhere, maybe not at mach 1 but we will get there reliably and safely and thats what makes me happy to have it as a daily driver. I have shipped my Sti 6 speed in that car when I got it built, I had all my tools when my friends and I would go to junk yards to grabs parts for their cars. We all fit in it with ease (We are all not 1000ft tall like doug. It has heated seats (which are buttons and I love buttons and simplicity) Things honestly I have been looking at changing are finding another outback with the black interior to swap over along with an aftermarket headunit because mine came with the base unit. Otherwise It does exactly what its good at. Driving and driving confidently during those harsh rains and snowy winters. Fancy is nice and everyone loves to have that fancy something but I have never met anyone who wished their shit was a little more complicated. Simplicity is best as the saying goes.

Doug, you completely are judgy against any subaru. I drove a 2020 Outback XT today. And I REALLY drove it. I actually found it surprisingly fun to drive for what it is, even compared to previous Outback models (Ive driven nearly all generations of them. You didnt talk at all on the improvements to the eyesight system, lane centering technology, or how it actually has a pretty good off-road (soft road) capability. They increased the ground clearance with this model which is great and something important to subaru drivers. Youre like the shitty Ford commercials comparing a Ford Escape which REALLY IS a suburban car with half the ground clearance of a Subaru Forester. You hate on Subarus but you dont really get it. Ive heard you complain Subarus are lame, but then you complain when they try more on interior too. How in the hell can you complain about the brake lights on the dash. Personally I found it helpful when using adaptive cruise in seeing what the car is doing at the same time as using it. Someone pulled in front of me and the car slowed gradually applying the brakes and it was neat to see when it was applying the brakes on the dash.

I had to give a thumbs down. Here is why. I'm on my second Outback. I had a 2015 and opted to trade for a 2019 rather than a 2020, but I'm still open to buying one, even though my 19 looks identical to my 15, it has way more features. The one that I'd get a 2020 for, you didn't even mention. That is the lane centering. Other misses are, the lights on the side mirror? Uh, those light the ground alongside the car. It's a very nice feature. The little car on the dash and it's brake lights? The is for when in active cruise control, you can see that the brakes are warning the car behind you that you are braking. It's automatic and is good assurance that you won't be catching them unwarned. You also missed the facial recognition system of the car, also the Starlink remote access and text notifications that the car sends to you, such as, your low on washer fluid. I've had three Subaru's with the standard 4 banger. I've never thought of them as being lacking in power.

Doug, I like watching your videos, but you missed some big things with this one. First, the car you had was the Onyx Edition which as others have mentioned have a dual X Mode in it. also you didn't highlight the Water resistant interior that is on that edition. I am assuming it was because you bounced back and forth between two different trim levels. Another thing you missed was the roof rack and rails. You have to pay a premium on most vehicles to get the rails and the outback tucks them away on the rack so they are there when you need them. We just lost our Honda Odyssey minivan and had to make the choice, now the kids are gone, do we become part of the SUV crowd. Well the outback fit the bill, we like wagon's /minivans and SUVs to us felt like trucks so this was a great fit. Look forward to watching more videos.

This is the most popular wagon in the States. Everyone loves it because it's safer than a Volvo, better offroad than an Audi, due to its horizontally opposed Boxer engine, it corners like a Porsche, but still high enough to have a wading depth like a full sized truck. It lasts longer than a Toyota and is as comfortable as an Infinity. If you go to Colorado, you see more Subarus than anything else, because it has been proven to be safe and capable. It has structural safety in a class of its own, so if you flip over in a ditch, you are effectively in a rollcage. It does all of this for the price of a Chevy Malibu, which does none of that. I give it a Doug score of 2 out of 100 because I have a Ford GT. Has anyone seen my Ford GT?

In describing the quirks and features he neglects to mention one of the coolest features of the Outback- the retractable roof rack. The cross bars tuck away when not in use to prevent drag and wind noise. Matter of fact, Doug overlooks a large segment of the people who buy Outbacks- outdoor enthusiasts. The lower height of the Outback makes roof loading of bicycles and Kayaks WAY easier, plus there's tons of space for gear. Four wheel drive makes it very trail capable and the ground clearance makes it even more capable. On any given weekend at the trail or boat launch there are a great many Outbacks, and us outdoorsy folks LOVE them.

No WOW feature on the 2020. psh. How about the Facial Recognition that scans your face and adjust your seat and mirror to your profile at the same time monitors you when you look away from the road for 10 secs or more. How about that hands free Lift gate built inside the logo in the back. Why didnt he mention X-Mode with the added deep snow/mud feature. Could he also show everyone the Cross bars that are also built into the cargo rails? This sorta thing is kind of sorta a WOW thing? Right? Also STARLINK IS REALLY NEAT you can remote start and operate lots of other features with a smart phone. Not amused with this level of info.

Subaru outbacks are everywhere here, including in my driveway. One thing you forgot to mention is that the back seats recline. Its something unique to outbacks I've never seen in another car. Also, outbacks are amazingly safe. In a front end collision you are more than likely going to come out scratch free or with far less injuries than you would in any other car. I hit a deer at 60 MPH (completely not my fault) and totalled my first subaru outback. It was like hitting a brick wall. The car came instantly to a near stop. I wasn't even sore the next day at all. My insurance got me another outback of the same year.

We have a 2016 with 175 hp. As a daily it's very well powered. Even with 4 people and bags for a week on a 1, 000 mile r/t, it's powered just fine. The CVT gets annoying when doing heavy duties, so when it's time to replace, i'm inclined to go with the turbo 4. Almost went with the 6 cylinder option back in 16, i think it was 260 HP with the NA 3. 6 liter, but they were practically giving away the base ones and at 0% for 60 and it was for one of my kids.

Doug, had a rental Subaru XV in Japan a while ago with the same eyesight system. I was just as interested to see the brake lights coming on in the center screen. However upon using the adaptive cruise control and brake hold feature I have found that it is actually quite reassuring to see the brake lights come on in the dash model. kind of a way that the car is telling me what it is doing with regards to the brakes.
