ODDLY enough and as difficult it may be to believe, but I had a car WITHOUT a catalytic converter. It ran BETTER and CLEANER with the converter gone It was a 77 Ford Maverick with a stock converter. It was my grandmothers car. We lived in Philly PA so they do emissions/inspection every year. I got it when she stopped driving and Id moved to Jax FL where they dont do emissions (at the time. The hangers for the exhaust rotted, the pipe started bending so I cut it off a few feet from the exhaust manifold. I had a guy attach a straight pipe to a muffler and that was that. A few years later I moved back to Philly and had to have the emissions tested. Same mechanic as before with ALL the previous years emission/inspection info on file. But this time, with the converter GONE, the emission test came back BETTER? I cant explain itI just know it did I SAW the results from that test vs previous results I have NO idea how. I just know it didAny theories on HOW/WHY?

The Saab Sonett III that you showed us actually has the Ford 1. 5/1. 7 litre four stroke engine with a whooping 68 bhp. It's the earlier Sonett and the regular model 92, 93, 95 and 96 up until 1967 that came with a 2 stroke engine. Famously known as 'Djungeltrumman' (The Djungle Drum) And i will quote Jay Leno: I don't need a Ferrari to make me smile, i've got a Saab.

More people would do EV conversations if they were actually affordable. I think converting my 2010 E82 to an EV would be very cool but it still has a long life left with it's original engine right now only having 20, 000miles on it. It wouldn't have all the electronic gimmicks & failure points of a Tesla but it would benefit with instant acceleration on battery power.

Back pressure is a byproduct of velocity which is needed for scavenging without exhaust velocity your cylinders wont fully expel the exhaust gases leaving part of the last combustion inside the engine. Spread the word so we dont hear back pressure on 4 stroke engines being a good thing

Speaking of fuel injection. Has anyone, (is it even safe or feasible ) to bypass the fuel tank and fuel pump with gas/fuel fed by gravity to see if your problem is in what you bypassed? ( or I suppose the computer controls the fuel feed now as well )Seriously I don't know, but curious.

I thought if an exhaust system were too short, it can allow cold air to cool the exhaust valves too quickly, on a hot engine, when it is shut off. That could cause the exhaust valves to warp?

Or, you could leave the muffler alone and develop a personality instead. Nothing can be done about the tiny penis but a doctor might be able to make it functional again.
