I love your videos And hello from Sweden I have been growing up in Audis, since I was zero years old My dads 5-cylinder Audi 100 (5000 in USA) from 1982 did 350000 miles before he had to put it to sleep, not because it brake down but because he got hit by another car and the insurance company prefered to give my dad cash instead of fixing the car. My own first car, an Audi 80 (4000 in USA) GTE from 86 was also a true time machine. Bought it 1992, had it for 22 years and never needed to have anything fixed on it. I only changed oil, oil filer, air filter and spark plugs every year (no matter if it was needed to or not - I just wanted to know for myself that it was done. I changed that car 2014 because it looked old. and my dear God, how I miss itLike you I also like Honda, they make cool cars - but Toyota, well of course they have good quality but they are to boring for me - just like Volvo is (now heres a swede that says that, I really hate Volvo. Well, thats all for now. Im gonna enjoy more of your videos now - keep up the good work Scotty

What about the safety features like automatic emergency breaking, lane departure warning and self driving (like in the Tesla? All your improvements are from over a decade ago, the newest improvements are really amazing. Also the trend of moving to electric motors is great because the motors dont really need any servicing ever. The only thing the new all electric cars need are tyre change/alignment and windscreen wipers/fluid and the occasional wash and clean, otherwise you never need servicing. Once the batteries move to solid state batteries, they will be able to be charged in 2-3 minutes so will be as convenient as gas cars.

5: 55 Scotty, thats not good advice for someone if they live where it snows more than 1-2 months out of the year. I cant count how many cars I see each year in the ditch due to mud and snow rated all season tires. Really, its about steering and stopping with snows. I have friends who refuse to buy winter tires and theyre always getting stuck in snow. Ive gotten stuck one time in 20 years, and it was this spring. I had just picked up a new car with m&s rated all seasons, and couldnt climb a medium steep hill after 2 inches fell. Needless to say, Ive already bought a full set of steel rims and snows for next winter.

Scotty i need help I took my 2015 wrx to a mechanic the other day and had an act II performance clutch installed. I also had the front and rear diff fluid changed to motul gear and motul gear 300. I also had stoptech front and rear brake rotors installed as well as the pads. Now the issue is they had to either take the engine out or the transmission out to get to the clutch. I just got the car back and i hear a very light tick tick tick tick tick tick when i was driving and it doesnt go away. Whats wrong with the car?

A reminder, In the Sixties AMC had patented ceramic/steel exhaust systems that lasted forever. My 66 Rambler American still had the original muffler and exhaust system on it when We got rid of it in 86 with well over 360, 000 miles on it. (The odometer broke at 360, 000 miles and was never fixed) AMC also was the first to totally dip the entire body of their cars in rust preventive primer. That old rambler had no rust on it either. Later they stopped using those mufflers in their cars because of cost.

My 88 Saab 9000 got better gas mileage than my 06 Saab 9-3 (both 2. 0 engines, and every bit as good as my Wifes 2015 Toyota Camry. Granted, the Camry has a 2. 5L engine, but it has no more power than my 88 had, so what good does that do? So while there may be instances of cars getting better fuel economy, Im not sure this is a universal trend. Aluminized steel exhaust parts do not necessarily last very long, in my experience. It matters how well its made. Stainless should last as long as the car.

I know this isnt related to the video. But I didnt want to comment on a really old relavent video. On my 98 chevy cavalier 2. 2 it seems to be leaking a little antifreeze into originally 2 spark plugs. There was a nut in front of the 2 plugs and it was seeping out from them. I tightened them up and 1 stopped leaking but the other one was still leaking. My question is what are these nuts screwed to the bolts and is there seals under them.

When you were a kid cars were rear wheel drive Thats why you had to put winter tires or chains on them. Now most cars are front wheel drive and with the weight over the drive tire you can get around without special tires I will also say I believe it is what they paint with at the repair shops because the good paint is cheaper and most people dont think about the quality of chemical coating thats applied to their car.

Mr. Kilmer has enumerated the significant and practical developments in car technology. He was right about how far tires have advanced - but if you live in a snowy region you still need snow tires, unless you dont mind wrecking your vehicle. All weather tires are basically poor in all weather. Also, Mr. Kilmer didnt know 87 octane isnt the lowest grade gas available. In Colorado the bottom grade is 85.
