Certain batteries are made for specific cars like my 2001 lesabre the battery is under the back seat and has a vent hose that goes through the floor pan to vent the battery the hose attaches to the top of the battery on each side so youre basically stick with one kind of battery, the upside is that the battery stays nice and dry, my battery is 3 years old and looks brand new, I got it from batteries plus, there was a coupon online that I printed and was the cheapest battery I could find at like 120. 00, every where else it was about 150. 00.

THAT IS NOT HOW YOU CLEAN A BATTERYYou need to neutralize any acid on the surface as well as remove debris. They make special cleaners however baking soda works just as well. This is especially true if you dont drive a car often. Any acid or dirt on the surface will actually conduct electricity and create a small parasitic draw on the battery. You can check for this using a multimeter. Place one lead on a battery terminal and drag the other across the battery in the mv range. In time this small load will drain your battery.

#6 Do not let that wetness that never evaporates accumulate between the battery posts. Its concentrated acid and its water soluble, just thoroughly wash it off and away from all the parts below the battery, too. It is very conductive and can drain a battery by 20 to 50% in just a couple of days. They just dont last long being deep cycled over and over. Its also bad for the alternator to have to charge a discharged battery, especially after it starts the engine. My batteries last many, may years from keeping the tops dry.

Scotty, I accidentally bought a lithium ion not lithium iron for my bike, was like half the price same power rating, cold crank amps # little higher, big engine and accessories, any special care needed, gonna search. Wish covered more in detail, saw video about bike batteries. Any weight shaved off is good for me Not getting younger, either. Live free or die, foreign entanglements, and Israeli lobby theft Nice sign

I service my vehicle batteries twice a year. I clean the case, cables, and posts. The I take off the caps and top off the cells with distilled water. I reinstall the caps and trickle charge them overnight. In the Southwest the batteries get hot and the water evaporates and the batteries die faster. Also in modern cars the alternators wont charge up a discharged battery like they did in the old days.

when you go to buy a new battery, never tell the parts store what car it is for. bring the old one with you and walk down the battery isle. chances are you will find several batteries that will work but the prices range from 110 all the way up to almost 200 (same brand of battery. I have found batteries with more capacity for cheaper just because they are more common. save yourself some money

In Australia its now almost impossible to buy a non maintenance free battery. Extremely frustrating when prices have increased 66% in the past 5 years. Last battery that died on me was a maintenance free type. Noticed it was lighter than I expected. Was about 6 kg lighter than what the label said. Punched holes in the top and added 6L of water. Still using it 1. 5 years later.

hey scotty, I bought a 96 chevy blazer, with the 4. 3 v-6, found out after buying it, that they are known/notorious for the fuel injection(spider) problem, mine went bad, I found replacement spiders from 300 to 700, various brands, is there a brand that is better? ANY input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you, btw, appreciate the videos and honest answers.
