The Truth About Fiat Chrysler Being Sued for Fraud Carmie Thompson: Diesels are not as bad as Scotty implies & maybe not as bad as the Shell executive he mentioned. The situation w/ VW was one of not waiting till the instrument calibration in VWs quality control lab was corrected to a narrower tolerance range. A VW executive was hell-bent on making the projected release date to the public & it was an Engineering manager that suggested the ruse. So the exec. went along w/ it. For one, the diesel emission standard is far to critical & there has been no health studies verifying the respiratory harm. England had no such controls. However, in the case of the diesel, there is either too much regulation or not enough. I know diesel would work fine in small cars & light trucks. IF they are used in medium to long distant operation. I had a leased 2003 Golf TDI automatic, excellent car. My mileage didnt change very much when I was hauling luggage or other people. The people I knew that had the Japanese petrol engines got a little bit less mileage but when they used their vehicle to haul people, mileage sank like a rock. These people were surprised. shouldnt have been. Diesels are made to haul. So apply the diesel to the right application. No in-town, shut-down start-up applications. Thats what petrol engines do, or electric.

English guy (nice mustache, dude) is a big wheel (oh, yeah. Classic, Scotty, classic Side Note: Big Wheels came out when we were kids. We couldnt afford them, but some of the neighbors could. I was just a little too tall to ride one anyway. I would have had to take the seat back off (ran out of holes, and then my kiester would have dragged on the ground. Plus, back then they had the hand brake to spin them out, and just the sound of scraping the plastic off the wheels made us compulsorily frugal people wince Oh, and I do have a question for you: My wife has a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan which is starting (no pun intended) to exhibit the classic TIPM problems, notably intermittent starting problems. I did read that Grand Caravans were included in the class action suit against FCA, but I need to know how I can get it fixed without getting soaked. Thoughts?

Hi Scotty Kilmer- I had a question - I have a 2007 toyota camry xle 4cyl with 180, 000 miles i think it has the 2ZAFE engine its burning oil excessively. Also the air conditioning doesnt seem to be working properly as i have put freeon multiple times and after a month im getting hot air instead of cold, i have put dye to see where the leak is. no luck, i have cleaned the actuator, is it worth fixing since it has engine burning oil issues and a. c-should i just get a newer toyota as the mileage is pretty high on this one. Let me know your recommendations i need a solid reliablecar used lexus or toyota with good gas mileage maybe toyota corolla.

Hey Scotty I love your advice about the Honda accord. keep telling people to sell those cars that shift like that because then I can buy them really cheap and put the proper transmission fluid in to the thing and drive for another couple hundred thousand miles. Thank you keep up the good work youre saving me a ton of money. 2003 accord and a 2001 Crv both werent shifting right when I bought them I flush them with Honda transmission fluid and they drove for hundreds of thousands of miles after that. All because people are too dumb to read the owners manual (and go to YouTube for help instead) and too cheap to buy the real transmission fluid.

880 million seems quite low. Seems if im not mistaken, VW had to pay billions of dollars plus buy back used diesel cars for the customers original purchase price. I have some clients that parked their car until VW sent people with checks and to get signed paperwork and then takeaway the used car, that VW is now buried with way to much money in it. One was a manufacturing company regional salesman for several states, with a Diesel Jetta 3 years old with 150, 000+ miles who received his new original sales contract cost. He said it was a good car for his application. Changed the oil about monthly and tires less than yearly.

love the videos, watch every one. I have a 89 civic rt4wd. the exhaust started making a flapping noise that can be heard from the cabin area, also causing power restriction. at first it would only flap for a few minutes after starting up, but keeping the rpm above 4k on the interstate seemed to burn through the restriction and the car would drive/sound normal. eventually it would start flapping/misfiring at red lights and stop signs. also the radiator fan isnt turning on although it is tested and works. not sure if a cooling sensor could be causing misfire/excessive exhaust noise/power loss. thanks for any input

How do I break my obsession with Audis and Mercedes? I just want a comfortable SUV that doesnt break down ALL THE TIMENow my Audi Q7, has an ABS unit that needs to either be fixed or replaced. Spent SO MUCH MONEY on ALL our cars we are on the verge of bankruptcy Even our 2007 Toyota Prado has cost us a mint, with 2 new batteries, timing and serpentine belts, water pump, ALL the front end pullies on the 1KD 3. 0 Diesel engines, had injectors inspected, cleaned with new injector seats and orings, the valve cover gasket, replacement fuel lines to injectors, radiator flushed with new coolant. Etc etc

my 1994 k1500 has a misfire. there is a line going from the throttle body to the left valve cover that is broken, but i dont think its the vacuum line. i took it to my class (im in automotive running start) and they said it runs lean at lower rpms but rich at higher rpms, it also shakes at idle. its the 5. 7L v8, its still pretty powerful and gets 16mpg average, do you think it is timing or ecm? i also have no catalytic converter and a super 40 for exhaust. appreciate your opinion on it, thanks, its my first vehicle and has been a very solid and dependable vehicle and wanted your advice on it

Hi Scotty, loving your channel here in Australia. The 79 series landcruiser utes (pick ups) sell well here with a 4. 5L turbo diesel V8 with single and dual cab options. Elsewhere in the world they are found in 6 cylinder non turbo diesel. They average around 15-23 mpg. They can be a risky second hand buy though as the mining companies here buy them and sell them after a real hard life. Its probably the most basic interior and optioned vehicle youll ever find too. Air conditioning was optional until recently, window winders, vinyl interior and all for the equivalent of US50, 000+

Scotty could you do a segment about why you should never have liquids near your gear shift on the floor. I was debriefed buy a senior tech here in Florida about the amount of money it cost to replace the gear shift apparatus and electronic. The cost of parts could be as high as 2, 000. Because the magnets and any kind of electronics that sensor the location of the shift become inoperable. The cover over the gear shift floor mount is inadequate. The smart enginerds on majority of vehicles put the cup holders adjacent to the shift.
