Mr.
I own the first generation (05 r53 model) of the new Mini's, standard shift, and they have been cheap to maintain so far DO NOT buy the automatic transmission, they were the weakest point of the first gen Mini's. Tons of those cars at my local wrecking yard (mostly automatic) Another week point was the upper engine mount. A new alternator online cost 50, water pumps are 25 and new starter is little more at around 110. Engines can run for a good while, even the supercharged versions. It's the generation after +2006 that things went downhill quick with the different engine and all. I see those cars online for sale sometimes with blown out turbo, dead motors, bad electronics car won't start. I would stay away from those

Scotty's right on those old Minis. I was in England in '71 and they were all over the place. I got to ride in a few. They cornered great but they had a very crude feel to them. And they rattled a lot. And the interiors were Lada-class noisy. I remember the rims being tiny. The engines weren't that great in terms of longevity, but you could almost rebuild them in your own garage, that's how simple they were. Many times it was just the valves and/or valve seals -- easy peasy.

If youre ok with doing the work yourself, not a bad car. Its not engineered like a domestic, which is great. They do have their quirks as Scotty mentioned, and do require a bit of preventive maintenance to keep running well. I picked up an 03 for 500, replaced that damn electric power steering pump, and have really enjoyed it since. I see it as more of a hobby I guess. Parts are comparably priced for the base model but do get pricey for the S and Work.

Its a BMW, its a crappy endless money pit. BMW performance for 2 or 3 years then the problems appear and performance goes out the window. My New Ford Focus ST (European model) with a 6 speed manual eats BMW, VW and Mercedes for breakfast with its 2. 3L ecoboost 280hp 420 NM. 5. 6s 0 to 60mphIt grabs the road like a madman and curves like a champ. BMW and Mercedes used to know how to make cars, now they just vomit crap out of their factories.

I loved my 2012 Mini. I had to have a front brake job at just over 20 thousand miles. I don't really drive hard anymore so I was pretty shocked to find out that a front brake job was 1, 500. The Mini dealer was also about 100 miles away. I got a local deal from an independent for around 1, 300. The local BMW dealer wouldn't touch it. When it started burning oil, I traded it for a Ford Mustang.

If it's patented then just check the patent, the idea of a patent is that yes you can replicate it but you can't make money off it so if there formula is patented then you should be able to copy it to the T. It's when you attempt any kind of resale when it becomes a issue and you either have to pay royalties or get sued and are forced to pay compensation.

5: 40 Now the modern minis are about 3 times heavier than the original mini, but they have one big advantage and that's in the ride (quality) of these things. WRONG SCOTTY The main big advantage is that they are INFINITELY more crash worthy than the original Mini, which was little more than a sardine can of DEATH in even mild crashes.

Trick is to go FULL OLDER not just older. LOVE my 1997 BMW 540i and 1997 Mercedes C230. One a super fast, super comfy 8 cylinder 300/300 car and one a high MPG all around well built car. Cheap luxury DOES exist, - just seek out post OBD2 and pre-HAL type CPU and microprocessors. 23 years old and they both run like a clock. LOVE them so.
