The End of Honda Reliability #2 Mark: Scotty, I'm of the opinion that Honda's made in the USA are not as good as Honda's made in Japan and I think that applies to other manufacturers making cars and trucks in the USA. I drive a Honda Insight and the wife drives a CRV both made in the USA and we may have gotten lucky, no problems to speak of. My oldest son drives a 2007 Ford Edge with 180, 000 miles on it and it has only had regular maintenance but it was my car before he got it and I'm anal about keeping up with scheduled maintenance and through the years it's paid off except for the one time I owned a Dodge and had to replace the transmission at 80, 000 miles. I agree CFA is now garbage, don't buy one Tell your viewers that regular maintenance extends the life of the car or whatever you're driving.

One aspect of not buying your parts and the vendor marking them up is to cover warranty. If I wish to replace the mass airflow sensor, fuel pump, O. E. radiator and condenser, and I order the parts through the manufacturer using my VIN number, I'll pay more labor and dismiss the warranty. If a mechanic wishes to be vindictive for me doing so and intentionally harms my vehicle; the Customer Reviews will not be at all flattering to the Dealer. Word of mouth can close doors. Unfortunately, it's near impossible to find someone like Scotty, anywhere who's not backlogged with work and Service takes too long while waiting for an opening. A spinal cord injury from forty years ago left me confined to a wheelchair but I continued selling vehicle repair and tires (Bridgestone/Firestone) until I was sixty. Scotty keeps me honest and up-to-date

Speaking of diagnosing car problems. In 1978 my 1973 Lincoln Town-car coupe developed a tick, I was positive the noise was coming from the lifters. I dropped it off at the mechanic with instructions to replace all the lifters and push-rod, a guy who at the time had a bucket full of money and a thimble half-full of brains. Eight hundred dollars later the car still had that tic. It drove fine so we took the long drive from Eugene to Phoenix for a short vacation to visit old friends and family. While there I paid a visit to the guy I use to hire to fix my cars. It took him about three minutes to diagnose the problem, it was the starter ring on the torque converter. It took him all of twenty minutes to complete the repair. He told me that the other mechanic would have done the same had I ask him to make the diagnoses. That's how you learn.

Scotty never mentions Buicks I grew up on Buicks just had that thought guess they are problem free. Last Saturday was coming home out of town saw a bad car fire think everyone made it out safe was going to call 9-11 knew if was in that situation would want someone doing the same made me see a pic of that CR-V burning, the car seen was a Ford Taurus 2004-06 version that poor car was engulfed I just pray everyone got out safe of that vehicle. I like Hondas think would get Toyota they are more reliable had choice between Toyota or Honda it would be Toyota. Those Odysseys have bad transmissions along 01-02 Accords so would avoid those models don't think newer Hondas aren't as good like were in the early 90s to early 2010s.

One of the biggest problem buying from online is the compatibility I've bought a month ago parts for my car and thank god all of it fits in my car except one part which is the tailshaft coupling the trans side fits perfectly but rear didn't so i went to local autoparts and thank god I've found it. It's good buying parts online if it's only good but the problem here is if you a need a necessary part that your car can't go without it it's better if you contact them for the dimensions for the parts you need or just buy it from any local store if they have the right parts

Hurts so bad that I really want a new Civic Si because it's got everything I want out of a car (zippy 4 door with an amazing 6 speed manual, but I can't pull the trigger yet until I find out if the oil dilution in that L15B7 is relatively solved. Won't be perfect, but if it's ok, I'll still risk it. If I could get one with the K24 from the ILX (or an ILX with the SI's 6 speed manual, it would be perfect.

Scotty I have a 1994 honda civic that is now having random starting problems. Had the distributor replaced 6 months ago. It died temporarily on the freeway with the oil and engine lights showing but then 20 minutes later started again no problem. I saw your video on oil dilution. Is it possible the 1994s can have oil dilution problems? How do I tell if it's a starter vs an alternator problem?

I've had my vw Jetta since I bought it new 5 years ago, and I can tell you they actually dont have nearly as much plastic on them as they used to, I've only had to replace the brakes and rotors once since I bought it factory new. still has the original battery in it, oh and I replaced the struts and shocks but other than that nothing else other than the usual stuff like oil and filters

I have a 2010 Honda Accord with 235K miles on it. Everything under the hood is original from the factory except for the spark plugs, starter, and battery. On top of that I have not always been kind to her nor have I kept up with the recommended maintenance schedule. Synthetic oil change intervals of 15K. That car still runs great and has never left me stranded.
