Heres How I Bought a Luxury Car for 3, 000 Tommaso Petrella: Scotty, my father gave me his 2004 Explorer Sport Trac for free and he kept it in mint condition. There is not a spot of rust and the leather seats are perfect like the day they were bought, so is the paint. It is only the 4 cylinder, so power it does not have lol. I want to keep this car for sentimental reasons, plus they didnt sell many of these and I believe the regular Explorer parts will fit for most repairs. The car has 60, 000 miles on it and it has never had anything done to it other than wheel bearings and regular oil changes and maintenance. It is the 4WD model. My question is how good are the engines and trannys on these Explorer Sport Traks and is it worth keeping as a week end vehicle. Some day soon it will be pretty rare as many were not made. At the least it will be odd to see one in ten years or so. Is it worth keeping or should I get what I can for it now? I dont think it can depreciate much more since its so old already and if I keep it to week-ends could it become collectable?

Hey Scotty. I love your channel. I need some expert answers from you: ) I am selling a 2000 Toyota Avalon with xls that is in very good condition with 213000 miles on it. The blue book value of the car is between 2890 and 3600 private part value. The car has no leaks and has been maintained every 3000 miles. Runs great. I am in the south so the car has not been exposed to salt at all. No rust anywhere. Solid all around. Could you help me put a fair price on this car If it was yours what would you charge for it? Thank you so much and have a great week.

60, 000 now has 78, 000? That is nothing. I put on my cars over 15, 000 a year and sometimes 20, 000 a year. When you dont live in the city like Scotty you have to drive to everything including a grocery store for food (closest store about 10 miles away. I have learned that if you do a lot of highway driving you put a lot less wear and tear on your car, including the brakes, suspension, everything. Maybe that is why I get my cars to 200, 000 with few problems (most brands, except Honda which includes Toyota, GM, and Subaru.

got to weigh the gas costs vs the buying and repairing costs. usually the simpler and not quite as efficient cars will cost less than half over a life time. do your own math. how much do you spend on your gas per years. how long will you live. how much does all that tech cost? and its not just for one car cuz you know you will buy more than one. odds are, you spend a lot more on car tech than you do on fuel. lots and lots more. so how is it worth it? not for me it isnt.

Just passed up buying an 09 accord ex-l original v6 6 speed manual for 11000 with 56k miles on it. Mechanically everything seemed to check out fine (although clutch pedal was pretty worn out indicating previous driver rode the clutch while driving) but the body was BEAT TO HELL bumper to bumper. Rust spots huge dents left and right large scatches spanning the whole length of the car etc. What do u guys think? Good buy or good pass?

Camrys and Avalons are built in Georgetown, Kentucky about 20 miles from our house. I am more of a Mazda CX-5 buyer for sitting higher for more visibility, easier to get in and out, how they steer and shift, and the price. I looked at buying a used Lexus- to get it down to 23, 000 it had to have over 100, 000 miles on it for a newer one with more safety tech and less rust for this climate with salt on the roads in the winter.

Eh Those arent rlly luxury cars cuz they are made by the same company that makes those slow little corollas. If you really want something fancy it has to be an Audi Mercedes or Volkswagen. Something of that ballpark is considered luxury to me. Yes you are paying a lot more for the repairs but thats to be expected if you want a car in that class. Toyota lovers it is now your time to type your hate comments, Ready, Set, Go

I have the Haynes repair manual, for my 1998 Toyota Camry. The book is riddled with mistakes. The index gives many wrong pages. Some photos are of completely different parts to what the description says. Basically, every time Ive need to fix something, the information has either been incorrect or its missing from the manual. Id say that is another big reason people arent buying their books any more.

Why the bloody hell are new cars fragile the older cars last for ever newer ones break every where what happened to the automotive industry why the bloody hell is the quality and durability going down shouldnt it get better as time goes on but it is the opposite. Because of this crap I only get Hondas or Toyotas as they are like u know fairly durable but not like the old ones.
