This Could Be the End of Ford in America

This Could Be the End of Ford in America Bill: That Ford unibody pickup could have potential if the steel was thick enough, and welded well enough, and painted well enough, to take the long term stress without cracking, because you KNOW people are going to overload a pickup. IF they could sell them for a bit over 20, 000, they could probably sell a lot of them. With a completely new design, they had better test it a LOT, since if it has any significant frame or drivetrain problems early on, the company will be finished. They won't get the chance to make the electric car of the future. I would put an automatic transmission in it, so that more women might buy them. Don't put computers and electronic connections down low, where they can get shorted out driving through water. People abuse trucks more than cars. If they really tough the design out, they could be like the VW Beetle, and sell millions of them for many years. Just don't make the base model interior look like it was made in North Korea. And don't design it so people need special tools to work on the simple stuff, like brakes and front end parts. They should have teams look at every system and ask, 'what can go wrong with this design'? Then do it for the entire vehicle. That's my 2 cents worth. '

There is something you don't realize about Ford and that is, most of the premium shares are controlled and owned by the Ford family. This is why they didn't need a big bailout when everyone else did and the fact that they started the restructure before the fallout. I think after this global pandemic, more and more people are going to realize they have to support companies based in their own country. It's not enough to say a Toyota is made in the US when the lion's share of the profits still go back to Japan. It was GM, Ford, and Chrysler, and Willys and even Packard that built the war machine to win WW2 for the allied forces. I think this pandemic may be a huge wakeup call for people. We would be speaking German if it weren't for US automakers.

It bothers me when intelligent people don't understand what a Mortality Rate of Percentage means. In Italy, the Mortality or Death rate is 8%. With how fast the infection of Covid-19 is moving it has the potential to infect everyone in Italy. That means with a population of (60 million) with an 8% mortality rate that would be (4. 8 million people dead) in Italy alone. The mortality rate for seasonal flu is only (0. 1. this is what made the Spanish flu so deadly, it was allowed to infect 500 million worldwide and killed 50 million, that is a 10% mortality rate. There is no vaccine and it spreads faster than seasonal flu.

Scotty, I very much enjoy your videos. I'm also a mechanic with 35 years in the trade. The last 28 as a fleet mechanic with the Big Brown Machine. But my big question is. The Triumph in your garage What year / model is it, and do you ever get to ride? I have a 2017 Boniville Street Cup that I never seem to find the time to ride. I know this isn't a typical question that you would normally get, but I am curious. Keep up the good work

Yes. I love small vehicles but not too small. This pickup ford is making appeals to me so far. But if they are really In Trouble forget it. Wont buy it. I should have bought a Tacoma when they were smaller. Im wanting a Nissan Frontier now but not sure if I should buy anything now since well you know the economy is tanking as we speak. Probably go into a depression. Nissan Frontier looks smaller than the other trucks.

All vehicles with a 3 as the first digit of the VIN is made in Mexico. GM makes the majority of their trucks, Tahoes/Yukons and Suburbans there. These are high profit units and we should be building them here. Ford, as well as others, builds their lower priced vehicles there as profit margins are small but their largest selling units are MADE IN AMERICA. Support the industries that support us.

Im a big ford fan, have been since the 1980s. I always liked the Taurus and was going to get one after the lease on my present car is over this summer. Problem is that ford decided to eliminate their sedans and build only SUVs. That decision has changed my mind on buying a new sedan. Im looking at the new Hyundai Sonata right now, its a nice vehicle but wish I didnt have to buy foreign.

Forget about China, Ford will always survive in the US. Even if they dropped every vehicle they made except for pickups, they would still survive on that market alone. Americans LOVE Ford trucks, and no matter what the price of gas is, that market isn't going away. Ford would simply make the trucks more fuel-efficent, and people would buy them

Regarding Alfa Romeo, how can you say the new ones are bad quality? They have only been out for 4 years in the USA. Your opinion is based solely on the past only. You should correct your statements. I have a 2018 Alfa Romeo Guilia and it's been perfect so far, the last two years. Not one single issue with it, runs like a dream and very fast.

Well Scotty, I think the reason why. They invest so much money in like China and all these other countries is that at the recession does come and they do tank. They already know the government will bail them out with our tax dollars. But do they ever pay us back? No, they don't.
