I bought a 2004 Dodge Caravan 3. 3L V6 with 212, 000 miles for 800. I paid for an alignment, a new fan belt and nothing more. It lasted just 12, 000 miles. It was still running but when the AC was turned on it hesitated. I sold it for 300 + an old big screen TV. I sold the TV for 50. That might seem like a long lasting van. The thing is that it was driven mostly on the highway. The owner commuted 60 miles each way to their store. If highway miles are equal to 1/10 city miles, then this van lasted 21, 200 miles plus what I put on it. Hmmm. They liked it so much that they replaced their van with another Caravan. Until Scotty told us about these, I thought they were pretty good vehicles. I see them everywhere. Even old ones are all over the place. Can they really be that bad? The new Honda vans have tons of problems according to recall sites. Even new Toyota vans have lots of problems. They aren't all engine related but they are significant. Maybe I'll buy a Kia minivan. They have fewer problems overall than Toyota and Honda. The 3. 3L had plenty of power. I drove it everywhere fully loaded. That was because I lived in it for two years. It was great until the mechanical problem happened.

Tesla does lots of crooked stuff to it's customers because they can control the cars remotely. Example- Say you pay 7, 000 for the auto pilot feature and 2, 500 for the supercharging feature. Then decide you want to sell your car 2 yrs later, you paid 9, 500 extra for these added features but when the new buyer gets the car. Tesla remotely turns off these 2 features that you already paid for and tries to charge the new owner 7, 000 & 2, 500 if they want these features back. So basically your 2 yr old Tesla drops 9, 500 in value when you go to sell it even though you already paid for these features.

Scotty Unfortunately the car business has been politicized along with everything else. Tesla is the darling of the Dems since Barack. All the money Elon has made is federal money to get him going which he is still getting. Climate change you know. He has not yet made money from car sales to the public. Plus they are not good reliable vehicles. He should be stripped of his business and sent China to flimflam them. His business are a drag on the economy. That's why he can't shut down for any reason.

Hey Scotty, I have a 1997 E class Mercedes 300D. It's a great car but has sat idle for 2 years because of leaky radiator, bad brakes, leaking sunroof, front suspension problems, etc. I love the car as a commuter because it gets over 30mpg and only has 190K miles on it. My son said I should sell it and buy a new/newer car, but I'd only be able to get maybe 1500 for the Mercedes. Fixing it and putting new tires on cost just over 4, 000, which is what I did. Did I make a mistake or not?

Hey Scotty, hope all is well. I have a 2013 Acura TL with 106, 000 miles. In January I slid on an icy hill and hit and went on top of a curb. The tire rim was slightly dented. Since then the car makes a humming noise on acceleration. I'm saving money to replace the rim. I had it inspected by a nearby shop and said everything in the undercarriage was fine. Does a slight dent in the outer part of the rim really make that much of a humming noise?

Yes it is a lot cheaper to pay cash for a new car. My father/sister purchased new cars at least 20 to 25% cheaper. Now with all that said. So in all this time, sticker prices on new cars have always been at least 20% inflated. Also, take in consideration that when financing a car they tack on a percentage rate too. So now that's when the banks/financial services get there money. So always negotiate the sticker price when you finance.

We are entering a depression. Here are some predictions for 5 years hence: 1. GM will be gone, Ford may just survive, Tesla will survive and prosper2. Most of the worlds cars will be made in East Asia. 3. China will be the worlds super power. The US will have a similar trajectory to Great Britain after WW2 - a slow decline into irrelevance. 4. Wake up people. Stop printing money and start making things people want to buy.

Here is a thought GM cant even make a engine that cant last 100k miles nowadays or make something that isnt recalled. Ford cant even make a dual clutch or CVT transmissions without recalls. All respirators will be recalled within months. Ford & GM will partner together and they will use the junk 3. 6L VVT and Dual Clutch Automatic trans for the ventilators. What could go wrong here. Poor quality cars in the last 20 years

California Governor Newsom in his speech tonight said Musk delivered 1000 ventilators to Los Angeles, but there was no video or pictures of them. Hate to say this but I would rather have a Ford or GM ventilator over a Fiat made one. Speaking of wooden aircraft and WW II read about the de Havilland Mosquito it was an awesome plane for its time, the Brits called it the Mossy.
