Heres Why Ill Die Before I Buy a Chevy Silverado Rick: I have an '05 Silverado with 330, 000 kms on it. Feels like gambling every time I turn the key: - ignition randomly/magically stops working/works again- AC blows hot sometimes- service 4x4 - switches into different 4x4 modes randomly sometimes- parasitic battery drain i cannot figure out so far. - tow mode on steering column does not work- extending mirrors no longer extend- brakes mushy/weak- steering pump on the way out. But the engine purrs like a kitten still and the body amazingly is in perfect shape. so i keep running it, probably will till it dies.

I've had two Yarii, and they're awesome little cars. I bought one brand new on April 1, 2006 for 13000 cash (a 2007 model. I drove the little guy for 13 years until last fall 2019. It had 193, 000. It was mechanically sound and ready for another 193000. AC worked. Everything worked. The problem. the damn rust got me. The back axle literally rusted on the right side so bad that it was no longer safe to drive. I sold it to a buddy of mine who put an axle under it and is now driving it to work. Now, over that 13 years and 193000 miles, I replaced the three things that need to be replaced on many a car if you have them long enough: alternator, water pump, and starter. That was it. Not too bad for that much time and that many miles. At least, I think so. I bought another one my niece was selling and so far, so good. I recommend the 5-speed. Yes. I am one of those who prefer a stick shift. Eff the damn automatics in little cars. As for dependability, they're as good as any other car out there. Easy to change the oil in yourself. The filter is easy to get to.

My wife and I drove out 1989 Buick Park Avenue from Nebraska to Kansas and back yesterday. It was about a 9+ hour trip and average 27. 8mpg at speeds from 55mph to 69mph to 74mph depending on what stretch of road we were on. We were the only car of that body style we saw on the entire trip. This is our good travelling car It seems every car we own is the wrong car including a 2013 Smart Car and a 1999 Ford Contour half rusted out. What I love about the Smart Cars though is that they are coming up for sale for cheap because nobody wants them. I've taught myself how to work on them, diagnose them, and fixing the glitches. I plan on having CHEAP transportation for the rest of my life by buying up these ForTwos and driving them. Parts aren't cheap of course, but the salvage yards, ebay, and internet help me keep them going. Of course, once I can't work on stuff any more, I'll be buying a Toyota thanks to Scotty's advice.

I bought a brand new 2018 Crew Cab Texas edition Silverado LT last May. Before it had 1700 miles on it it had three computer systems short out that had to be replaced by the dealer. The airbag control system, the body control module and something else that I forget what it was. The truck was a v8 with that GDI 5. 3 that switches to 4 cylinder operation when its under low load. It hesitated when taking off and just was a funky driving truck. I sold it with 3600 miles on it. I was thrilled to watch it leave my driveway even though I lost two grand when I sold it. I've been a Chevy guy my whole life and I'm 63 years old, but I'll never buy another one. Scotty is right about GM. Their newer cars and trucks are junk.

I have a 2007 Yaris with 230, 000 miles on it. I've had two repairs, an alternator at 180, 000 and the catalytic converter that needed to be replaced at 220, 000 miles (two days before my license needed renewing of course. Burns about 1/4 a quart of oil per 5, 000 miles. So far as driving comfort is concerned, it's ok for short range or city, but I wouldn't want to take a road trip in it (and haven't. Overall, it's a good daily driver car and reliable, but, like Scotty said, if you have the money I'd buy a Corolla or Civic instead.

My dad has a 2003 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Duramax diesel 2500 long bed. Hes had it for as long as I can remember since almost brand new. Its got 250, 000 miles and still running strong most everything works AC works great. Yeah the plastics are kinda coming apart. But the power train is great. However we also have a 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser with 280, 000 miles and everything is absolutely flawless nicer materials everything works flawlessly.

Never had issues with my chevys. I have a 20q2 Malibu w/ 221k and all I replaced was the alternator. I bought a new Malibu on 2017 and it has 30k on it, no issues. 04 yukon denali with 280k no major issues. My father has a 2016 sierra 2500 with the 6. 6 diesel w/ 75k and it runs fine. Doesnt matter if it Chevy or Toyota, buying new or low mileage will give you a peace of mind and you'll know exactly how it was taken care of.

hey scotty i get notified that youre live streaming but it says its always private also you always say that Mitsubishis are really cheaply made but the 4th gen eclipse is looked at as their most reliable car the 2009 at least. it has one accident reported and 112, 000 miles still horrible also the 5 speed manual not discount auto the accident was very minor and id always get a mechanic to look at cars scotty lol

Yeah, you find one vehicle that has some issues so automatically the trucks are junk. Wanna know how many junk Toyotas I've repaired over the years? My son is running 2016 Silverado with 339000 on it with only general maintenance over the years. The one I finally upgraded had 265000 on it and the new owner is still enjoying it. Mine had a minor gauge issue that was remedied with a software update.
