Leasing a vehicle may be right for people who can afford the convenience or for people who are terrified of understanding cars and their systems or just don't want the hassle, including the inconvenience of repair. It can also give you an opportunity to try before you buy, which as Scotty points out, is one of the most legit reasons to lease a vehicle. I totally get it. it's for people who feel they have better things to do so they're willing to pay for it. But what leasing most certainly ISN'T is economical or cost effective (if that's your game. It also sorta shows a type of laziness, disconnection or someone who is all about bling. At the end of a lease, you're out much more money and have only a memory to sell or enjoy. These are the basic trade-offs. There are more, no doubt, but both sides have their downside and merits I suppose. I'm just tired of the dealers making it out that leasing is a great way to put yourself into a car you can't afford to buy or when people try to justify that it's a much better way to save money. It' absolutely is NOT

Hey scotty. I find it difficult to find honest mechanics in my local area. I dont know what to look for or the right questions to ask. I also dont want to pay them to find out they were the wrong choice. Can you make a video on how to vett a mechanic to assure they are like you, honest(Side note, just an idea; maybe you could create a program where mechanics can apply to get a scotty's certification of authenticity, a preferred provider system for local mechanics to apply to, and for average Joe's to have a list of mechanics that are a good bet)

I have a 2000 Altima I bought new, a few years ago. It has always ran great, even at 200, 000 miles. A job change caused it to became surplus to my needs. Rather than sell it for near scrap value, I placed it in ready reserve status, along with the 1990 F250 and the 1967 Chevy C50 2 ton truck in the reserve fleet. Then, my stepdaughter and her 2 daughters showed up in a 2008 Volvo. The Altima was recalled to the front line, and it has provided exemplary serve. The POS Audi, is long gone and not missed.

On the ethanol fuel topic, here in the UK all petrol/gas has a 5% ethanol content as it is. Now the government has decided to double it to 10%, quite a few vehicles are not able to use it but they dont care. Trying to force cars off the road, and i will bet the price is dearer not cheaper. The price of fuel is crazy over here, most of it tax as well. Also diesel here has a bio content and that might change so watch this space i guess.

i had an old BMW for 4 years and boy i didn't know my distributor was badi drove for 4 years and i replaced everything it was shaking CRAZYthe more you drove it the worse it got. all because the distributor itself (not the cap not the rotor) was bad. i didn't know much about cars, it was my first car. even though i am an engineer, you gotta have some experience to fix things right.

I haven't seen every one of Scotty's videos so I don't know if he's done this or not but I think he should upload a bloopers and outtakes video sometime where he shows everything that goes wrong with a repair or test drive. Like those Murphy's Law kind of times that we've all had where we start cursing really loud at everything.

Good videos - You really know cars and much more. Tell us a little about yourself. Your family, hobbies. food, healthy habits. . Nothing too personal if course, just general. You have cat pillows in background, why? In the middle of the nonsense and uncertainty going on, your videos are a welcome relief. Blessings and health.

Another common issue on these Honda motors; The valve cover gasket gets hard and dry, especially the grommets where the spark plugs go through the valvecover, oil leaks into the plug well and prevents the plug from working, causing an intermittent misfire. Simply changing the gasket will solve this easily.

Hi Scotty, thanks for your videos, I got a 2013 Manual Ford Mustang GT with 40 000 Miles. When I am in 6th gear and accelerate above 75 MPH my car makes a whining noise, the drive remains smooth and the car whines only when I accelerate, there is no whining if I am in the Gear and don't accelerate. Why is that?
