I Cant Believe This Happened Tammy Martin: Congratulation ScottyUntil last December when I turned 58 I had done little more than put gas in a car. Then I got took. After 2 years I finally found a replacement for my Miata that was stolen. In the last 3 months, I have replaced the rack and pinion the outer tie rods, thermostat, coil pack, valve cover seal, painted the valve cover, changed the oil and filter, plugs and helix coil, had to put up Sheila score cute school and because you know everything came out with the spark plug there is more but I think thats enough for you to understand how much you have helped me. Ive had to look for Miata specific that I too often didnt find but she ran like a top for a whole week & thats when I replaced the Coil pack it had a 1/2 inch chunk missing on one of the 4 fingers? I dont know what each is called. Ive hired 2 mechanics the first was a lier from Your Mechanic the other I think can do it but will he? Im gonna wait one more day and try to figure out how to test the resistance in the new coil and then test the ignition switch. I was hurt pretty bad in 07 at work & I just have no memorie since so wish me luck and thank you again. I am going after my 91 MR2 next shes a sweetheart and like a new car inside. OH I was forced into retirement after surgery and all that mess & no you dont want to retire, I had an awful battle with just being miserable the first couple of years. Well, I spent 2 years determined to prove them wrong. I was wrong and broke Lost my home, boat, Harley, truck, and car. Lol, I had to borrow a car to live in. Then I took my retirement and settled up with workers comp. But do take off and go on adventures & if the boss wont give you the time off demote yourself and hire your wife as CEO Have a great summer and thanks again

Scotty youre right on track but forgetting something about telling the truth. Most people dont live in the real world of cars and they dont want to hear the truth about their shinny transportation. Whats odd is most people can care less what their neighbor drives and once they bring home that shinny new car it doesnt even get taken care of. If most people cared about quality instead of a one day bling athon the #3 American junk automaker would have nails in their coffin decades ago and the other American companies wouldnt be far behind. We live in the disposable, payment for life, I have to have what I want NOW, spoiled society of less and less common sense. Now that I got that off my chest its time to go wax my old Toyota and wave to all my neighbors walking their dog.

Hello Scotty, the power steering pump on my Dodge Grand Caravan 2007 with 100K on it is making roaring noise when it is cold only and after the engine warms up the noise disappears. I have replaced the reservoir and the power steering fluid which is basically ATF4+ Chrysler transmission fluid. There is no loss of the power steering and it works fine. The question is - if I should replace the pump? Is it safe to drive like that? My concern is that if the power steering would disappear due to the power steering pump failure on the highway I will have an accident due to the loss of the brake power booster as well. Thank you. Your reply is really appreciated. Have a great day

Scotty, how about a 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix with 91, 000 miles that experienced catastrophic damage when the intake manifold exploded and started on fire a couple weeks after I bought it last fall. It was the first GM product I bought since I bought a used 87 Buick Skyhawk that nickle and dimed me to death, then broke the crankshaft 500 miles after I had a new clutch installed? Its also the last GM product I will ever buy. Replaced it with a 2008 Toyota Matrix XR with 125, 000 miles. Love me some Toyota Keep up the great videos

How about a video on what extreme cold starts do to cars? I cant find much that talks about what the crazy temperature range cars are exposed to does with these newer engines with the tight tolerances. I just got through a month of temps between -44C and -35C, when the warmed up engine is near 100C. Also at these temps I find my transmission stays cool. I know things tend to break more in the cold, is it just metal getting brittle or is it more different metals expanding/contracting differently?

I have a friend who teaches auto-extrication courses for firefighters. He told me of a story about a father who lent his brand new convertible (cant remember make/model sorry) to his daughter and friends to take it out for the day. I guess she hit some train tracks quick enough that the suspension decompressed quickly enough that the hidden roll bar activated and set the airbags off causing thousands of dollars in repair. The kids were all ok but had some explaining to do. Lol

Scotty, I have a legitimate question. I currently own two fantastic Lexuses (a 2015 GS350 and a 2006 LS430 which are both fantastic reliable cars) I also work on my own cars and I have a ton of experience repairing my northstar powered Cadillacs from the early 2000s. Im currently considering a 2013 BMW 740li, and yeah yeah I know theyre known as being a headache, but are they impossible to fix, I know about the electronic water pump and the high pressure fuel pumps.

Scotty I had a 2015 Mercedes C250d with 35, 000 miles on it. Biggest pile of junk I ever owned. Interior rattled like crazy, rattles form the sunroof, from the drivers seat, from the windscreen and rear passenger panel. the ride comfort was also terrible I could feel every bump on the road. When I put it in reverse I could feel a strange vibration from the engine. So I sold it and bought a new Honda CRV. Best Decision of my life.

I got hooked on your videos about two years ago. Ive worked at tire stores/ vehicle repair for the majority of my life (born in 55. In everything, a person can learn something new every day. I see you talk about very important maintenance issues that extend the life of components and vehicles well-being and it all rings true. I hope you stay at it Scotty - so many can benefit from your videos Thanks
