The Most Reliable Cars of 2018 Katsas13: Ive owned 4 Mazda Miatas/MX5s and even they have some weak points. Watch out for clutch slave and master cylinders, they are notorious for giving up without warning as milage increases and can leave you stranded or stuck in traffic with a clutch pedal that suddenly drops to the floor (on two of my cars under 100, 000 one NB the other NC. Rocker cover gaskets leak. Window winder motors and their electric switches tend to go early and are expensive to replace. Some heating issues on earlier NA models due to poor air flow to factory radiators, check radiators/water pump/thermostats carefully and also check licence plate fixture to make sure they are mounted away from lower front air dam. Off-set or slim line plate away from inlet recommended. Premature rear suspension linkage wear on NC models. Note that parts are more expensive on Mazdas than Toyotas. I wish Toyota gave us a rear wheel drive Corolla for sports car enthusiasts. Not the impractical GT86 with a Subaru flat 4. Those engines are a pain to get to for valve clearance checks and as Scotty mentioned suffer from early head gasket failures and are certainly not exciting to drive. Had one for 6 months only, steering rack recall, rear L wheel bearing replacement and Spigot clutch bearing failure all with less than 6, 000km. 2012 first year of production might have had something to do with it. ? One thing Toyota doesnt do well is paint Possibly one of the worst in climates with high UV levels (Australia) It is thinly applied and weathers very quickly. Some external plastics crack over time (Corolla door handles) and interior head liners can start to sag in time (once again in humid climates. Surprised the Honda Jazz/Fit and the Suzuki Swift wasnt on the list, cracking little cars to drive with tough rev happy engines that love to be driven spiritedly.

OMG, every time I see your videos I just want that damn wifes 17yr old Lexus LOL. SO nice Scotty. I have been watching all of your videos and a HUGE fan I just bought a 2016 IS 200t. (I used to have a 2015 RX350 but got sick of it) wanted something more fun. Now, I am all scared about the turbo and reliability. The car has 23K on, and good dealer service records (CPO car too. I intend to keep it for a long time (7+ years) and I drive about 8K a year in Miami. Do you think this will be a nice lasting car. or. is it going to be a big money pit as the years go on?

Hey Scot, wouldnt it be more appropriate to be listing cars that were built at least 10 to 15 years ago ie. 2003 to 2008? Then it would be more relevant based on your experience as a mechanic, etc. dealing with repairs, how severe there were, how often, etc. Any of these 2018 cars could generate serious issues down the road. In fact, I read theres a huge recall for your No. 5 pick Corolla. Not to mention the stuck pedal and airbag issue with the Toyotas of late (granted Takata airbags exist in other makes and models as well.

Noticed everyone giving birth to kitten every time Scotty talks about Toyotas, truth is American cars are complete trash, doesnt matter what it is, Im not touching it. Have a 2010 Camry 240k miles, have a 2012 Sienna, 130k miles only changed oil, breaks and tires for both, bought a 2017 Sienna, why I know itll last, I know its be in the family for 10-15 years and Ill never worry about them. You know who whines about Toyotas? Dumbasses who cant afford them or dumbasses who moronicly think they know better.

To all those who dont agree and think Scotty is biased: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. The UNs go-to vehicle is the Toyota Land Cruiser; the most reliable pickup truck that can outperform even a military vehicle, is the legendary Toyota Hilux (Speaking with Newsweek, Andrew Exum, a former U. S. Army Ranger and fellow at the Center for a New American Security, says the Hilux. kicks the hell out of the Humvee); the No. 1 car sold around the world, the Toyota Corolla. Must I go on? Tell it like it is, Scotty

I really want a Lexus IS RWD, but they do not have a Limited Slip DIff. I am afraid it will not be as fun and as safe as the Genesis Coupe RWD, manual with LSD that I used to own. Can you shed light on LSD? Now they use all these VDIM, brake assist features, torque assist that brakes some tires and transfers power. but I am afraid they might be crap compared to LSD, especially in the winter. What would you say about that?

Scotty, you should create a checklist for longevity in a new car. Review all the parts close to the hot engine and tell us if they are plastic (Boo) or long-lasting metal (Yay. This would give us a chance against the blood-sucking bean-counting corporate weasels who want us to buy a new car every three years. Hey I WOULD buy a new car every three years if made 20 million a year like they do Checklist please

Hey Scotty, love your vids. I recently bought a 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and have been looking everywhere to see how reliable it is but cannot find anyone talking about how reliable they are. So far Ive put 8000 miles on it with no problem. It currently has about 118000 miles. Im worried about how long its going to last and how much its going to be to repair if it breaks. I shouldve gotten a Toyota like i wanted

Im done with Dodge and the rest. My Son has a 2006 Toyota Tacoma with 150000 ( frame replaced ) that runs perfect and doesnt burn a drop of oil. Im looking at a tundra from 2002 to 2008. What is your opinion on the truck and the 4. 6 engine. I know the timing belt has to be serviced every 10000 miles. Also what is the best years for the 4. 6.

I have a Suzuki Grand Vitara Xport 2007. 12 years old over 136000 miles on it and still going like new. Perfect interiors, no rust. Good paint. No squeaks. Everything works. Very nice ride on all senses. I am still in love with it. Is this the standard quality for this model or I am just lucky? So far the best investment of my life.
