The Truth About Modern American Muscle Cars Tammy Forbes: How is a 707hp car that gets 22mpg on the highway bad on gas? Whats a Camry English size 2. 0, so 1/3 the size of a hemi but only gets 10 more miles per gallon. And saying the modern V8 are old technology just because there not over head cam is like saying a F22 Raptor is old tech because it uses a jet engine. 90% of your vids I agree with but your a little off on this one. And the cam in block engines like the Vette have a weight advantage as the have a lower center of gravity and the LS engines are as light as can be there all aluminum and weight less then some V6s so I dont know where your getting your info from. And some of the modern muscle cars will be collectible I bet you a diamond to a doughnut the demon will be a collectors item as well as the ZL1 and GT350 and GT500s. Now the run of the mill ones yea there are to many of them but the special ones like the demon where they only built 2200 of them in 50 years time I guarantee the will be a collected car.

If it was up to Scotty the whole world would drive a Toyota Celica, or Camry or Matrix. If you want to buy a 30 some of your old car be prepared to spend money end of discussion. Youre probably doing it cuz you like the car anyway and that case it takes what it takes to make it run. Yeah American muscle cars are all gas Hogs, and so is anything else with a lot of power. Should we stop Motorsports and tuning? Pushrod V8 dont necessarily get worse mileage or have less reliability than overhead cam engines either. LS Motors get at least if not better mileage than the coyote overhead cam motor, and they have more displacement. And have cheaper parts, and are easier to work on, and have less timing chain issues or belt. Not everyone buys their cars for resale value. And just because a car has bad resale value doesnt make it a bad car. Dont be a cheapskate just change the damn timing belt. Or trade in the car every time before its due

As far as modern muscle cars go, Id expect the Dodge Hellcats & Demons to hold value well for decades, as long as theyre not wrecked/blown up and they still have all the original accessories(floor mats, red & black key fobs, owners manual, the Demon tool chest etc)But yeah, older cars from the 1960s & 70s is the way to go if you can find one thats not rusted to hell or has body/frame sagging like an occupied hammock. Its getting harder to get them for cheap, and most people have stopped daily driving them 15 or 20 years ago. I dont see nearly as many old muscle cars on the road as I did in 1997 in high school.

Modern muscle cars are gas hogs? For comparison: A 2018 Camaro makes 650 hp with fuel ratings of about 20 mpg combined city/highway. In comparison, a 1970 Camaro SS 396 made 350 hp, and would have been lucky to break 10 mpg. And Old Technology? The 2018 LT4 sports direct injection, cylinder deactivation and variable valve timing, dry-sump oiling, 6 bolt mains, rotocast aluminum heads, drive-by-wire throttle control, digital engine management and a high-efficiency TVS supercharger. Complaining that it still uses pushrods is like saying the new iPhone is old-tech because it still relies on satellites.

Well, there isnt anything wrong with buying Alfa, especially theold ones which are a lot more mechanical then thecars of these days. I had a ride in 1980s Spider and it was a blast. Just buy carburated version, instead of K-Jetronic. Also, it is an old car, so be prepared for some electric issues from time to time. More importantly, it is crucial to warm the engine up and let it cool down after you have driven fast. (That is good to do with every car, however, it is very important when driving Italian classic. Lastly, it is up to everyones choice but I would not recommend such car as a daily car.

I own a 06 Alfa Romeo GT, its way more practical than it has any right to be although it has needed about 1500 worth of repairs. Its sweet as a nut now though despite it being in a accident before I bought it The downfall of Alfas is mainly from neglect, due to the awful depreciation when new they get bought cheap by people not realising theyre actually premium cars with premium prices who then dont want to pay the money to service them etc. Never buy an Alfa from a non-Alfa owner or you will have problems

I bought first 06 Dodge charger Daytona rt top banana loved the car when i first got it the 5. 7 engine is still goin strong with 144 on the dash but the trany or the torque converter has a vibration / shudder under low RPMs on a light load just trying to maintain speed or when Im coming to a stop I have to shift it in manual mode to make it go away dont know whether I should put in a used transmission for like 800 or try to fix the one I have the transmission overhauled lik 2 years ago cost me close to 2 grand

Hey Scotty I bought a 2002 Lexus GS 300 v6 vvt ge and I had the transmission and engine rebuilt for a total of 3145, the shop I go to is reliable and I know them personally I bought the car for 2300, it had a shaking problem and Ik Toyota u usually wanna use the higher quality oil but he had it running on some orange colored one probably lesser quality and when I had it inspected it turns out he had the temp gage/ thermostat for the radiator cut which is why I rebuilt was it a smart move or? Thoughts?

Hey Scotty, I have a 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. That car is rock solid but dealer recommendation is to change timing belt on 90k and I already have 130k on it and the car is driving smooth What do you think? Is this engine interference or not? Thanks in advance for your help Many people testify that they drive over 200k without replacing and some said they replaced it but the new one broke on 50k after replacing, so Im a bit confused. Have a great day

Scotty. Love your channel. I got a question for you about a certain engine. The 3. 6L V-6. My brother in law had a GMC Acadia with that motor. Had not but problems out of it. At least 1, maybe 2 timing chains and other related parts for the timing chains. He finally got rid of it with 192K miles on it. My question is. Is all of the 3. 6L V-6 motors bad or is it just the GM design. I have not seen much about the Penstar 3. 6. Thank you for your time.
