Heres Why this Ford Escort is Worth 400 DNCLAB: I think that its a really durable car. Its really cheap to maintain and goes like other modern cars. Ive an 1996 Ford Escort 1. 6i 16V, with a BRC GPL system. now i can ride without emission resitrictions, i save a lot on petrol and i can drive for 1100km without stops at the petrol station Its also really easy to modify. ive installed leds lights, alarm system, automatic trunk opener and a touchscreen android radio. The unique thing is that is not secure like a modern car. No ABS; no ESP, only two airbags. Drive speedy this car is like drive a race car: ): ). My 1. 6 ignition 90CV does 180km/h that its amazing for a standard 23 years old car. the metal frame is really thick. a girl with a new Ford fiesta hitted my front fender while she was talking at the smartphone. hers bumper was to throw in the trash and mine only a bit dented without paint damages. in 10minutes i fixed it by hands. 23 years ago this car was very common and appreciated. now its work anyway greatly. i done 240000km without problems. only the normal maintenance. Lets think how a modern car will be in 20years of usage with all the electronics that now its standard to mount. So respect for this always realible car Its also the Berlusconis favourite model; )

Typical USA patchwork, only improving cars in markets that refuse to buy into the American standard. Imagine if China sold cars in the USA, we would all laugh and say that unless its the best car China has ever made, we dont want it. Same goes for European standards for quality in the 90s compared to American standards. Ford had way better cars in Europe than in the USA in the 90s. Customer base loyally buys anything American while that same company makes better products for international markets. American auto refused to improve their quality until the quality became so bad in comparison with Europe and Japan that even the most brainwashed brand-loyal Americans finally stopped buying American cars. The auto industry had to be bailed out in 2008 and as a Michigan native I watched it all unfold. FIAT bought into American auto and American cars became international models which were sold in nearly the same trim and design across the globe (think 1st gen Chevy Cruze, instead of leaving the worst products for the Americans to consume. Such a waste of such a loyal customer base.

had one too Aubergine colour 1995 station wagon GLX trim. I needed a car while I was doing an intern-ship in Germany. So my mother sold hers to me for 600 back in 2007 it had about 200K KM on it, but the exterior and interior were still in very good condition. Drove that car 4 months 2400KM a month (600KM in one sitting. then drove it till the tag expired. and yes the rust on the rear wheel arches was a pain. but other than that it worked great. You put the rear seats down and presto you could sleep pretty much anywhere, plenty of room. So after using it a good year and clocking in at 250K km, sold it to the local shop and still got 300 for it only had to service it once during that whole year and it only consumed about 7L/100km.

Bought an American market Escort 1985-1/2 model year. It was the model with the inline four aluminum heads etc. it was notorious for cracking on the exhaust side between the cylinders. I bought it from a grandma for 800 and it was absolutely spotless with 65, 000 miles. The head cracked at 85, 000 miles and I had to buy a head from a junkyard, have it machined and the valve seats done. Bought all the gaskets + everything needed to transfer all the parts from the old head to the machines head. It took ten hours with a friend. I drove the Escort an additional 50, 000 miles and finally let it go when everything started to rust on the body. The engine was absolutely bulletproof after doing the head.

A lot of people on this side of the pond may not be aware that this is a British Ford Escort, quite different from the Escorts that Ford sold in the US. IIRC, the American made Escorts sold by Ford in the US from 1981 - 1990 were not too reliable. Starting in 1991, I believe, Ford sold an Escort for the US market that had a Mazda engine. I believe that that model was offered from 1991 to approximately 2002 or thereabouts. The engines on those Escorts were quite reliable, according to what Ive heard. I think the 2002 model was the last year that Ford offered an Escort model for the US market.

i have a 1999 ford escort with 150k miles and zero serious problems (ac no works, had to remove that ground wiring harness thing, paint and interior needs some spiffing up) and i love it. Runs great, clutch and trans is perfectly fine, and everything (except the ac) works. It sat for 3 years, but a change of oil, coolant, new battery, a little bit of gas stabilizer added the day before cranking and it purred like a kitten. That was about 4 years ago and i would almost be willing to drive across the country is that dint mean going to california.

Its amazing. The Ford Escort is every bit good enough to be sold today as a current model. Its got everything you need. Which just goes to show that the cars which are sold new these days, what improvements over the Escort generation cars do they really have have? Sat nav? Ive got a Garmin. A smart phone socket? Phuh Some improvement. The modern cars have just got fatter and heavier, and a hell of a lot UGLIER than the 90s generation cars in my book- oh and they cost WAY more Bring back the old Civic EK9, thats what I say

I had such one in black and station wagon, it was awesome. And my friends liked it too, especially the back seat area was very comfy. Not like in modern cars where you cant even look out the back window because the seats are so tall. No, you could really relax in this car and spend hours in it without wanting to get out. Escort was a great model that sold tons in Europe for many years. It was a feel good car

That thing would be worth more than 400 bucks in Ohio. See how how the rust hasnt progressed to holes in the rocker panels and underneath the rear doors? That automatically brings the price up to 1, 000 bucks. Wait, its made after the year 2000? As long as its not a 99, that automatically brings the price up 750 bucks, so 1, 750 bucks. Now someone can list it for 2, 500 like a douche to be talked down.

I took drivers ed in a ford escort. Terrible car. we had a street that had a decent then an ascent of less than 45 degrees. Going down the hill, the instructor said floor it. I said what? Really? so I did. at the bottom we were going about 50 in a 25 mph zone. at the top, we were going about 5 mph. had I not followed his instructions, we would have been stuck at the bottom of the hill.
