This Ford Escape Has a Serious Problem Al Grayson: Private individuals can just let R-134A go into the air, but licensed repairmen, which you have to be in order to be in the business, must pump it out into a recovery cylinder for recycling. Enormous civil fines? 20, 000 for the mechanic, 200, 000 for the business) can be levied on persistent violators. Private individuals can buy R-134A only in one pound cans. You can get it at the local auto parts or Walmart. But with a license or federal certificate you can buy it at a much lower price per pound in 30 pound or larger cylinders. R-134A and its counterpart for HVAC sealed systems, R-410A, will in the coming decade be phased out in favor of more expensive, less efficient, more flammable refrigerants based on propane. To cool your vehicle the compressor will be heavier, the evaporator and condenser larger, and the cycle less efficient. In a frontal collision that bursts the refrigerant pipe open it will burst into flames. Progress, eh? Martin C. Eldridge III, an Ohio man, is serving time in federal prison for violating the Clean Air Act after police witnessed him cutting the refrigerant line on an air conditioning unit and releasing HCFC-22 into the atmosphere. It was determined that he was a professional refrigerating unit thief who did this frequently. R-22 comes under the same restrictions as R-12 though phased out several years later (2019. The fine is 27, 500 per day of continuous violation. As Eldridge had been seen stealing A/C units before, and he was scrapping them for money, that put him in the HVAC business even though his business was unlicensed and therefore illegal.

Hello Mr kilmer, need some help hope you can find the answer have a 2011 buick lacrosse with 60k miles. was driving on the highway with the ac on during rush hour with family. a plastic burn smell started smelling inside the car not to strong just a little and all of a sudden the door locks went crazy unlocking and locking and the car stalled on me in the middle of the highway. Lucky for me and my family i was on the slow lane or would of been a hell of an accident for a bunch of us. Car would not start up it was towed away. Next day they took the car to gm dealership and they ran codes and couldnt find no problems. ive seen on the internet about alot vehicles having the same issue and lots of complaints by owners. Been searching for a recall on the internet and nothing at all. but looking at the complaints seems like the 2010 thru 2013 are having the same issue on stalling. was wondering if you have any idea what it can be to fix this issue. in need of help ty sir

I love all of your videosHi Scotty? Can I ask you a few questions about our suv? Our air conditioner button/switch is not working anymore. In fact we have to tap under the dash board area to get it to turn on. Is that safe? A few months ago the car kept turning off when we tried to go up hills. we eventually got the car services and changed the coils. But from the beginning the cars muffler has a lot of smoke and we have to keep putting oil in the vehicle every week. Thats not normal. Why is the oil burning so much? There is no visible oil or coolant leaks? Yesterday we put some royal purple 10-30 oil in the car and it drove good. It even didnt start smoking at first. But this morning the car shut off then we turned it back on a big puff of smoke came out the muffler. Then the car started driving normal again?

Good video Scotty I agree on the screw clamps The first time I sat on my dads cars Fender while he was working on one it was a 1960 Rambler classic 4 door. One of the earliest lessons he taught me it was use those nice stainless steel screw clamps on hoses. It was either that or how to oil the centrifical Advance on the distributor Yes I still remember how that works That ramp looks classic ran like a top It had the push-button transmission and Wing vents front and back Dad taught me a lot of stuff about many different things not just cars. Dad was a jack of many trades and a master of the few. I was better at laying cinder block than he was though He made his mortar too stiff.

Hey, Scotty, can I offer an opinion and not sound critical? Please dont start titling every video xxx has a serious problem. I pick the videos I watch based on titles. I have precious little time to watch anything so I have to be picky. If the title does not grab my interest, I move on to another video or another channel. I can promise, I will never watch a video with a title as vague as xxx has a serious problem. I am not enticed by the mystery of titles like that, I simply want the title to tell me what the video is about and Ill watch if I am interested. Anyway, I love your videos. I just dont have time to play pot luck when watching them.

Scotty do you want to have a Bar called Kilmores Rum Ups? My other question is I have a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT 3. 5L 6 Cyl. WHat do you think about the engine? It has a timing chain instead of tiing belt. The Alternator is on top making it an easy to change serpentine belt. I only have 69000 miles on this Engine. Change oil every 3000 with Pennzoil HD Synthetic for High Mileage 10w -30. How long will this engine last? How about the Transmission? However why in the hell did they put the Battery under the Fender? In order to change it I have to take off the right front tire.

Ever since I had to replace my 2008 Ford Escape transmission I hate the thing. Paid 6k 4 years ago just to pay 2k for a new transmission and only had 150, 000 miles. Im the first privet owner. Ford had it for rentals before befor I bought it off of them. I mean its a nice SUV 4 cylinder white but man Idk Im always worried something is going to go out on it. I always get the oil change when needed, detail it once a year, and valet it when ever I can. But Im a guy that use to own reliable P71s, 1995 Taurus, and a 1998 escort wagon. I trust my old cars more then this thing.

Screw clamps I used those on my 1988 Toyota Tercel (Dont laugh it was given to me, okay you can laugh I did when I sold it) when I replaced the radiator and hoses. A mechanic umm Technician said I should use the spring ones he said Pat Goss talked about it, they supposedly exert even pressure where the screw clamps if over tighten can put pressure on one spot and with the radiators being plastic it can cause problems later. Ive be using screw type clamps for years with no problems in fact I keep a few in my tool kits for my motorcycle and car.

One of the problems i have had on every single 90s GM i have owned is the pump for the AC having the clutch stop working. In at least 2 of them it was a relay issue because when i connected it temporarily to a switch it worked. They had plenty of pressure and no leaks, but the AC wasnt cooling. On an d Cavalier i sold it and showed the buyer why the AC wasnt working but was an easy fix and later i bought the car back and he had it still on the switch. Sure, the AC blew colder than hell but i dont think it was good.
