I was thinking about why Scotty rates all Subarus very low for head gasket problems, while Consumer Reports magazine survey results rate some of them very high for reliability, especially the Crosstrek and new Ascent. My guess is these engines are a lot less reliable in a very warm climate like Houston. A lot more of them are sold in more hilly, colder states like far right Maine and far left Washington, skewing the average reliability toward more reliable. Also, they had a lot more head gasket problems for 2014 models, not the newer ones.

Actually, the voltage regulator for the alternator, which supplies the varying current to the rotor based on the battery voltage/current load, is what determines alternator output, not the diodes. Failing diodes usually lead to a dead battery. An easy test is to measure AC volts off the battery. You shouldnt see any. A battery that overcharges almost always has a faulty alternator voltage regulator. Ive never seen a poor(high resistance) battery connection lead to an overcharged battery, its the complete opposite.

Should adjust your justification on educating yourself to be a mechanic Scotty, I am currently enrolled in that in a college, it is practically mandatory nowadays that you go to school to get any type of job, unfortunately its not like the 80s where you can walk in the shop, learn, and make your way up the ladder. You still need to go to school to get certified, though apprentice is better than the straight education but take the straight education first since you get more knowledge to prepare to work in the shop.

Right on the money scotty I passed a competency test and walked right in and started as a lube tech for Toyota. In my time, I saw at least 3 UTI graduates get hired and quit or get fired. All hired as lube techs all failed not long after being hired. Complaint after complaint about how they went to school and now theyre just a lube tech. Now 1 works in a care home, 1 works for a rodeo. 20 years later Im a Subaru master tech. Spent my 20-80k on quality tools and classes held by snap-on, napa, oriley. 100 per course.

Scotty - Go ahead I dare you If, in a given case, you are (as we know) responsible for the WHOLE shooting match, tell me how you stem even the mildest aroma of sarcasm for 300 seconds. just 300 seconds. after you are confronted with a line of pure, ABSOLUTELY unaduterated, aggressive, swine-modulated, merde: Please, write a book on exactly how you do it, from a. le to app. te. You will make a gorram (see Firefly, or Serenity) fortune. But drop me a msg or email first. I dont want to wait.

Scottie, help. I have a 15 year old Mercedes E500 with a constant electrical drain I cant track down. Its pulling a constant 1. 88 amps with everything shut down and Ive pulled all the fuses and still not found the drain. I only paid 1500. 00 for the car (friend was selling it before he moved back to Europe) and it was running perfect until the week before he sold it. Now it kills a battery overnight if you dont keep a charger on it. Any Ideas before I have to take it to a shop?

Well scotty. I feel like I should share my frustration with you. I bought a 96 chevy s10 and Im replacing the slave cylinder. Ive been working on it bout 1 or 2 days a week for the past month and I finally got the transmission free but now I need to take the exhaust off. I was doing just that and I found that the one side uses a 1/4 and the other side uses a 8/32. Its about midnight I just put the transmission back for the night.

Scotty. My Honda Accord is a money pit and I have the option to buy a 4. 7L 2007 Toyota Tundra. It has 485km. It has been stored in the shop during winters. Alternator, air pump exhaust has been changed. The maintenance has been done such as the timing belt and tune ups etc. Only reason why I want to buy it is because Im getting a good price from work and the truck is rock solid. Would like to hear from you

Hey i was wondering if someone can help me out. I have a p0526 code. I replaced the fan clutch with an acdelco part, i replaced the relay with an acdelco, and i checked the wires for damage but couldnt find anything. I still have the code, how do i get rid of the problem? I noticed when i clear the code, it comes back after 10 seconds. The truck runs great though. I have a 2004 gmc envoy with a 4. 2l engine.
