A Serious Warning to All Car Owners (This New Feature Can Kill You) Rastislav: I have to say, that in this I do not agree with you. I have older ford system from 2012 with these features and help me many times. One especially, when car in front of you start braking lightly, but then slam breaks at full, it taking me to recognize that situation longer(1-2sec, but this system will alert me or interfere sooner. And then I do not need to slam breaks so hard and get worried who will hit me from back.

I recently had this problem with a 2019 Santa Fe rental and its Lane assist while my 2009 van was getting repaired from a claim.
3 problems I had:
First: I never knew it had this feature and I drove several Km s with no problems, but then I made a lane change without signalling and the car FOUGHT me and pulled the car back into the lane I was in and it freaked me out & I jerked the wheel back towards the lane I was turning into (glad I was only going 50-60 KM s) It could ve rolled if I was at highway speeds
2) I was driving the shoulder lane (solid line on the right, dotted on the left. A lane opened up on the right (for right turners) and the solid line on the shoulder angled to the right to mark the opening of the new lane and thus my solid line changed from a solid to a dotted line. Lane assist quickly jerked my wheel to the right because it thought I was leaving my lane. This WAS at HWY speed! Thankfully no roll over
3) travelling down a winding two way paved road with NO LINES AT ALL. and the car was beeping at me a few times that I was wandering from my lane, but it didn t try to move my steering wheel.
I saw the button after this and turned that feature off and left it off! Just seems like a class action lawsuit (
/Death trap) waiting to happen!

I have a question about changing transmission fluid and or filter on a older transmission (06 f150 w/ 200k milss) I was gifted my truck from my wife's grandfather who took good care of it but I don't see when or if the fluids ever been changed in the transmission. And the current fluid color is good and not redish black.
No issues with it, still strong but I'm getting mixed messages on changing it.
Some say 1 of 2.
1) Go ahead n drain it/ replace the filter and put same amount back in. Will keep the original transmission running strong/better for longer.
2) No. dont change it since its the original transmission and nothing saying that the fluid in it isnt the original fluid. To risky and may cause issues where there is none.
Since I do all our maintenance on my vehicles I feel weird about not atleast rotating new fluid in over a period of time to avoid getting dirty. Whereas dirty fluid is definitely the warning light to Not change any thing at that point.

I had this problem with a 2018 accord and live in Houston. But I gave up trying to fix it or trying to reach Scotty about it.
The car would start braking on its own and all the braking system lights come on. No one was able to find the problem after many weeks/months and thousands of dollars at dealerships and a couple local mechanics. Ive had things replaced which did nothing.
If you get one of these cars, do not get in a wreck or crash where the front body becomes damaged. Those censors can be replaced and calibrated but its more complex than that. Lots of things could be wrong, bad body work, bad windshield(aftermarket tends to be bad, loose cables/wires, and many other parts related to the ABS or even your SRS.
One more tip, if you do get in a wreck do not trust local repair shops. Take your car to a dealership and male sure to always get extended warranty before buying one of these equipped vehicles.

Hey Scotty: If I can be the devil's advocate here: My 2015 Mazda 6 Grand Touring which has all the options you can and can't think of has that self braking system too. This one time, I was in a parking garage, the guy in front of me was looking for a parking spot so he was moving super slow, I was right behind him while having an argument with my ex-girlfriend and out of a sudden, my car stopped very violently. The guy in front of me had come to a full stop. For a minute, I thought I hit the guy. I got out of the car, rushed in front and saw literally not more than 3 inches of space between my car and the car in front of me. Basically the automatic city brake saved me a lot of trouble! Yes, it may sound weird but I literally did kiss my car. I still have the car, the chick is gone! LOL.

Got a 2018 Civic. Never had it stop for a shadow but with Honda the first thing it does is warn you. You get a notice on your dash combined with the steering wheel shaking. If you step on the gas at that point, the crash avoidance is ignored. It did save me once last year. Took my eyes off the road for a split second and the car in front of me stopped at the same time. My Civic warned me and then immediately applied the brakes. By the time I realized what was going on I stepped on the brakes but thankfully the computer's early braking was enough to save me a rear end collision that would have been 100% my fault.

I drove a semi with this system many times, it's VERY bad idea. OMfG! -
FYI. Most companies have them factory installed to save insurance. it's a very bad idea.
I fractured both wrists, and caused multiple accidents. these things are GD terrifying. You never know when and where they will trigger, and when they do there is nothing you can do to override them!
Worse, they prevent us from speeding up quickly in traffic, thus pissing thousands of people of who think we're being slow on purpose. Augh

Did valet for 6 years and there are features that just annoy you: car stops when youre off the seat at very low speeds (u might need to get off the seat to peak back in reverse, car turns off automotically when u get out of the car for a few seconds (some luxury cars, blind spot aids going crazy when you pass anything within range. And those damn electronic e brakes, theyre supposed to be an override for emergencies too, but now theyre a fancy little button.

My new Ford has that. Luckily I'm able to turn it off. My brother has it on his Toyota and it almost caused a wreck once when he was merging onto the freeway. The thing just slammed on the brakes and the guy behind us almost hit is. I wish Ford would have included adaptive cruise control instead of this nonsense. The automatic wipers is another thing I can do without. Rain sensing wipers. how lazy can you be?

New semis have these systems and some work better than others. I ve had them all randomly slam the brakes on for people getting off of the interstate. But luckily they only hit for a second and it the truck doesn t slow down much. My Cadillac only has the red light that pops on the windshield and seat vibrates but it doesn t automatically brake which I like. Gives you warning but doesn t control your brakes.
