I Ranked All American Car Brands from Worst to Best

I Ranked All American Car Brands from Worst to Best Art: I have a Ram and so far no complaints, but it is a Cummins - Aisin. The rest of the truck is probably not so good but so far it is holding up. Did have to get the bumpers replaced under warranty because the originals (made in Mexico) started rusting in 2 years. So far the replacements are ok. I also have a 2006 Ford Explorer, so a truck basically, and whew, do parts ever fall off that thing. It has 3rd row seating but the seats haven't come up for years. Wheel bearings, connecting rods, the plastic parts, the radio (which is a 1500 entertainment system, the exhaust gaskets, the coil over spark plugs, it's a new major repair every year. The engine and transmission have been good at least the metal parts, but the thing is a wreck. It has about 140, 000 miles. Surprisingly, the one part that has held up is the body. It's just starting to rust behind one of the front wheels now. But it has been garaged most of its life. There is some other body damage but my wife did that. Even the plastic grips on the running boards are coming off but you have to replace the whole running board to fix that so I let it flop in the wind. Ford may get Scotty's vote for #1 among NA manufacturers, but they are still crap. They can't even figure out how to make a running board that stays together or an electric seat that can go up and down more than a few times before the plastic gears strip. These are leather seats. They are of no use because of a plastic gear. Absolute crap. That was not a cheap accessory. And they don't work. And I am not the only person who has had that problem. To fix it you have to replace the whole seat frame and then the new one quits working after a few goes too. It would have been better if it were manual like the second row, they still work.

Scottie, your favorite brand in the world also makes the Tacoma in Mexico lol. Owners of the Mexican built trucks report very few issues too. In fact the factory has won more awards for quality than the texas plant which will soon stop building the small number of Tacos they do build.
Don't get me wrong I'm a frontier man myself which by the way is built in Tenessee, but lets be honest vehicles are built with as high or as little quality as they are engineered with, regardless of location.
A long time ago i read an article about the Toyota QC at factories and how it differs with GM's. At Toyota's facilities every major component/part is checked against a master part at the time of assembly. Any issues with the part are dealt with right there and then before the vehicle is completed. At GM the vehicles go through QC at the end when the vehicle is complete, making production issues dealing with tolerances harder and more costly to fix.

Scotty, you have the Chevy motor mount story wrong. The engine cannot fall down to the ground unless it magically passes through the front crossmember. What happened was that if the driver's side motor mount fatigued and the rubber separated, engine torque rotated the engine upward on that side, stretching the throttle linkage wide open - extremely dangerous. It happened to me in a 69 Chevy with the 300hp 350. Luckily (despite being a dumb 16 year old) I shut off the engine, but this event also tore the fittings off my AC condenser. That cost me 100 to get fixed back in '73. GM's recall 'fix' was a braided steel cable that ran between an exhaust manifold bolt and the frame, so the engine could not raise up. The car was entirely safe and OK to drive with the 'fix' in place (which certainly cost them less than replacing motor mounts.

Sawing off the branch you are sitting on is usually not a wise thing to do.
That is what they are doing when making higher and higher profits to please their owners is their number one short term goal. The long term consequence of that is that the branch they are sitting on will fall off. And getting a bail out by the government will not help, since they emediately start sawing off the new branch they are sitting on to meet the same short term goals. So basically bailing out car manufacturers that have a habit of sawing off the branches they are sitting on, will result in badly made American cars forever. And the American tax payers are paying billions of dollars to keep on getting crappy cars forever. All these systems are flawed. And apparently no one is doing anything to fix any of these flawed systems.

I feel this rating is a little biased. GM's Tahoo, suburban, Yukon, and escalade are all examples of best and safest SUVs ever made for the price paid. GM is the first US company that started the little efficient Turbo engine trend which is now followed by all other manufacturers. For the price you pay, GM vehicle includes technologies and services (OnStar for example) that can't be compared with other dumb vehicles. Keep in mind that we are in the age of leasing and replacing a car every 2-3 years (at least here in the US. So in my opinion, technology and safety is what matters most in a car these days, not reliability. I'm not trying to be a GM fan here, I just feel the rating is biased because you did not mention what aspect it is based on (quality, reliability, safety, technology, price, etc.

The crony capitalism drives me nuts, this was America, not the USSA. Let the cream rise to the top (with no special tax exclusions or taxpayer funded sites like walmart gets) & the milk which goes bad can go in the trash.
It's not freedom when we're told if you don't pay this bill, men with guns will come & if you resist, you die. That's gov't extortion, the exact same thing they went after the mob for.
The difference being when the mob protected a business or neighborhood, it was safe. Naturally this was in the early days, but still atleast the criminals / private security kept their word, for better or worse.
Also, no women & children, the gov't doesn't abide by that. look at Ruby Ridge and Waco.

Ford Mustang GT uses a manual transmission sourced in China, class action lawsuit from owners do to the poor quality, Ford Mustang GT V8 also had valve carbon issues, also the driving Dynamics of Ford Mustang have a flaw and that's why you see so many of them crashing coming out of cars and coffee, Scotty you are wrong about this one, Ford makes a bunch of crap, just cuz they sell a lot of them doesn't mean they're good, General Motors in the Camaro uses better transmission and has a better V8, also better chassis, and better driving Dynamics, so stop talking about stories from 20 years ago and do some homework about today's cars if you're going to make this kind of video

Thoughts on LINCOLN & CADILLAC? I know my Lincoln MKZ AWD is a Fusion I was going to buy the fully loaded Fusion but I wanted a V6. I don't care about gas mileage I'd rather have a larger engine that barely has to work to move it down the road. I couldn't imagine the small 4 cylinder trying to get 4500 pounds of car down the road it's a screamer. My 3. 7L V6 has a bunch of get up and go so much so it has cut power on me around corners with that AWD system and continuously damping suspension no body roll. I'm glad it has stability control cuz I could have rolled it maybe. Zero tire squeal too. Sometime I like a nice winding road but mostly it's in comfort

I already half decided my next car will be a Ford. Either a Fusion or a Lincoln MKZ (Basically same car but up scaled)
I'd humor a Lincoln Town Car as well if I can find one with low enough millage in good shape for a fair price. But most of them were fleet vehicles for like airports. tons of hwy millage & the prices are not very good ideal.
But for now I got an 08 Mitsubishi Lancer, it's been good to me so far, I know it's greatest weakness is its Jetco CVT. Mine is holding out pretty good based on the magnet in the transmissions oil pan with 135, 000 miles. I'll drive it as long as it will last me!

I've had bad experiences with Ford and GM and great experiences with Nissan and Dodge. I would take this list with a grain of salt because both of my cars are on his worst lists/reviews and they are nearing 200k miles and still running strong. I will say that Nissan's paint job is not that great, but mechanically I have had nothing but good times in my Atima-28 mpg (08) and my Ram 2500-23 mpg (07. 5. But I guess it helps that I'm a heavy equipment/diesel tech and know how to take care of vehicles Most of the time from my experience that's the problem. people can't/don't/won't take care of things.
